After installing the missing toploader 1-2 shift detent, replacing the timing chain cover and a faulty voltage gauge, I took Big Red for a spin. No leaks, no left over parts and she runs pretty darn well. For now anyway. Found the reason the speedo quit working, apparently my head mechanic didn't screw the cable nut onto the speedometer. Dolt. Now I get to put away all the tools.

I just finished installing new plug wires that the little rodent in the house chewed up. All sort of traps set up for him/her but so far all I have is a Ghost. Checking my front end alignment again as I really think I muffed up somewhere. I can get a max of 3 degrees of caster on the drivers side and the other side is at 5 and does not seem to want to change no matter how much I lengthen the strut rod. Somethings not quite right.
Snowed again overnight and another 6" forecast for tonight.

On my Mustang, I get more caster if I SHORTEN the strut rod.

Your are correct, short rod, more caster. I want less caster on the right side since I am unable to increase the caster any more on the left side without adding shims.

Oops, sorry Gary. I kinda skim when I read. I was thinking you'd want to match the 5° side.

I'm in the same boat as Coupdaddy.....
After getting back from Steve and Glen's on Saturday, I started taking stuff off the car till it quit vibrating at 70!!! It came down to third member or U-joints. The U-Joints felt fine. After getting the chunk out, I did a horrible job at getting the pattern right for the gears. No telling what else I screwed up. It goes to Glen this afternoon.
The picture is hosted through Flickr.

I got the 3.50:1 Eaton Tru Trac installed. Finished up Al’s 408 stroker. He is coming to pick it up tomorrow.
I need to run in the new stealth gears. I hope they are silent as advertised. Then calibrate the speedometer gear.
I have been waiting on Holley to ship me a 9.5 power valve that was ordered two weeks ago.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
