Today I installed a new water pump on the 66. The old Flowkooler pump had been seeping a drop every now and then for the last year. The old pump lasted a month short of five years and went 12,550 miles.
I replaced it with a new Flowkooler. The new ones now have billet aluminum impellers, not just a plate spot-welded to the original GMB steel impeller. It is only 70 degrees here, but I could not get the 427 over 180 degrees idling with all lights and AC full blast.
Next I need to replace the 3.70 aluminum differential with the new 3.50:1 Eaton Tru Trac, then replace the speedo cable gear in the tranny.
Third is to fix the short in my NOS turn signal switch. Steering column adapter is causing the contact to press in too far, making the big-un’ short out on the column housing.
Then, get it inspected and get the plates current and head to THE BASH.

With the proper amount of breaks, it takes me two days for a water pump.

It took me two sessions to get it done, but in same day.
I used to do an engine in a day...

What's the saying?
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!! LOL
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
