I used sport seats from TMI with headrests. Very happy with them. Mounting brackets worked perfectly, and they were the only seat I could find with horizontal pleats to match the rest of my '67's interior. Good quality vinyl, and comfortable on long trips. They are available in a low back version as well, but I wanted the added safety of a headrest.

I have a set of 93 GT Mustang seats in mine with the TMI Mach 1 either 69 or 70 which ever has the red stripe hey look really good but they sit up to high I am only 5' 8" but i come just a few inches from hitting my head on roof sitting in car and its crazy getting in and out. Not so bad off duty but getting in and out with duty belt and vest its hard to bend down and I scrape my head if I am not careful......AGRAVATING so I am ready to put some shorter seats.

Why not swap in a 1 piece headliner and gain some head room? You could also try fabrocating some lower profile seat tracks if they are to tall. Are they on the stock 1965 seat tracks? Im surprised they sit up that high im 5' 7" and Im no where near hitting my head on the headliner but then again im in a 1965 Mustang Coupe if that makes a difference.

Yes they are on stock 66 tracks in a 66 mustang coupe. the seats are taller.... I bet I could take seat tracks off and they would still be to tall...its not so much me sitting to high after I get in, it is when I am getting in having to lean over to get in.....I will take a measurement tomorrow from seat to ceiling and from floor seat bottom. you should have seen my brother get in and drive he had to slouch down and lean his head over. he is 6'2

Extended seat tracks maybe an answer along with 1 piece headliner to gain some room. That or make it into a convertible. Lol Sorry

Seat tracks are not he issue...seat bottoms need to be shorter.....I could take seat track off and would still sit higher than a stock 66 seat. new seats are the answer. I have never even heard of a one piece headliner in a classic mustang.
Offline
seat bottom to headliner is less than 33 inches....measured from where your butt touches seat back . about 30 where you slide in the car between seat and door opening.

Mustangs to Fear sells a 1 piece headliner kit for a coupe or for fastback.

I like my classic headliner.

When I went with TMI sport seats on my mach 1 seats they sat 1" higher because of the foam. So Im 6.1" and I was hitting my head on roof. So I pulled the adjusters out and bolted the seats on floor directly. Problem solved.

I'm 5'10" and don't have nay headroom issues with the TMI seats. They are on their own sliders with adapter brackets. I also have a stock style headliner.

Your head would hit the ceiling in my car.

I upgraded the foam and covers on my original 67 frames with the TMI Sport foam and covers. They looked great, butt I did not fit inside the car anymore. Everything was to thick, I sat closer to the wheel and my head barely cleared the stock headliner. Sitting that high I had to duck to see out the windows. So I ordered stock foam and covers (both TMI) thinking I would go back to stock but changed my mine. I sold the newly TMI Sport covered seats and the new covers and foam for a huge loss. I searched the world looking for late model seats and found a complete set of 2011 GT/CS black leather seats in Georgia. I ended up tossing the rear seats and used the fronts with the 67 seat tracks. Boy Howdy Dogs are they nice and comfortable seats. I think they sit slightly lower than the originals (a good thing) and I gained leg room to the pedals. In retrospect I think I could have cut down the seat risers and made the 2011 seat track work, but I was not interested in all the electric goodies as I am the only one who drives the car. Why do I need to adjust the seat? The passenger seat was all manual so nothing lost on that side.
Find some late model seats and make them fit.

Find some late model seats and make them fit.what about the air bags?
Those looks really nice on your car do you have tight clearance with the side of the seat and the door handle?
I would measure mine for BILLY WALTON from GEORGIA but my seats are currently not installed. I will bring them down from storage and bolt them in and measure clearance.

Gary, what is the height from rear floorboard to top of seat?
Exclude the head rest.

Need to look around and see if I can get a deal on some somewhere.

Are you sure Billy?
Are there seat riser modifications required too?
My 65 is pretty much the height of the height of the tracks and the carpet shim at anchor points.
To get it lower would require seat pan modifications.
