I'm collecting parts to build a 347 and need a good set of heads. Does anyone have any experience with these Roush heads? I would really like a set of AFR's 185's but deals seem to be few and far between on these heads.
Online!
The AFR 205 heads on my 427 have 58cc chambers. Those Roush heads have 66cc and would probably be better if they had less. My engine builder said they make more HP by dishing the pistons and using a small cc combustion chamber vs flat top pistons with larger chambers.
Do some figuring and see what it takes for a piston to get 10:1 compression ratio with those 66 cc chambers and your 347..

Someone once told me Roush heads were made by AFR, he had used both.

Yeppers, I've got the 185's on the 351 in the MAch... It runs 11.90's (yes in the 1/4 )..so I'd say they work well also...

Anybody remember a few months back we were dis-cussing heads and there was a new one that was suppose to "out perform AFR's" AND were cheaper!! Can't recall who made them.

I remember that thread but don't remember who made the heads. I think you found that info on SpeedTalk. I've found a couple sets of 185's for sale, used, need work which means by the time you pay for a valve job, etc you could have bought a new set. I am in no big hurry on this thing as I haven't even talked with the machine shop yet.
I have a E303 cam, but I am leaning towards getting Ken at Delta Cams to custom grind a cam for me. This motor will never see a drag strip or nitros, at least as long as I own it. I am also not planning on replacing the C4 or 8" rear, at least until I shell it. All I want is a good, strong, streetable 347 that can bust the occasional rice rocket. I also don't want to go at this like killing snakes and then say "wow, I wish I had done that..............."

Here you go Mike.............
