has really killed a lot of the 'action' on the old MustangSteve and FYIFORD web site!!!
Seems I can catch-up on ALL the new posts in less than 30 minutes(and I'm not a slow reader!)
Hope it's not "the beginning of......"!
What was the latest on the "fix"?(or was there any?)
IF I knew how to fix it......... I would........
Ehhhhh........ maybe it's just the warm weather and the holidays!?!
Speaking of which.....
Hava-Happy 4th of July and cruise those old Mustangs!!!!!

It's none of that. It will take mikes action to fix this and we continue to wait for that.
I think I'll just start posting pics on VMF, user friendly site, and cross reference those to my Fyiford posts....smh

I will never be able to post a pic using Explorer. So the Edge kept telling me everyday I turn this puter on , and no. I don't have vert parts. I only said I wish I had a vert. I would be so happy even if it was a 60's beetle bug vert.

Maybe what we need is a weekly topic of discussion on something Mustang related or Ford , Say for example power steering pumps. What is available as far as swapping out the ford style, Horsepower losses etc. I am working on this problem now.

Heck I can't splain anything at work to the young guys without waving my hands or drawing a picture. Taking pictures away pretty much shuts me up, Brenda says that's a good thing though!

Well, JKB and I were just talking about boosting our post counts! I told him I'd just start commenting on each and every post and see how many members get sick of seeing each and every post that I post!! That should boost the member involvement!!!! Just sayin!!

Who really needs it.
I only know after yrs of collecting cars just for the parts, It not always by the book, but that's a different story.

Should I post less?

I dig this forum for the quality of posts, and the ease of searching the archive. We live in the day and age of disposable Facebook posts in groups that amass some of the worst answers to automotive questions. That being said the 12 step program to post pictures here is tedious. I find myself more active on the 7173mustangs site and less active here because of the added trouble of image sharing. Honestly I pay a tiny bit on other forums for the convince of a large media storage space, and wouldn't be opposed to doing it here. It is really frustrating to hammer out a great bit of reference material on the keyboard with embedded photos, only to have the photos disappear a year or three down the line.

Can you provide a link to the forum where pic hosting works well? I am about ready to start something new.

Sorry, I'm behind here guys. I've finally moved into the new shop. I've been spending a lot of time getting everything situated in there.
All of that to say, I'm open to ideas. I have found a few places (Google, Reddit) we could start another forum, but it wasn't popular. If y'all have suggestions please send them to me asap. In the mean time I will follow up with my web developer and see if he found any options. Thanks for your patience.

Steve, vintagemustangforums; corralnet and fordfoum.com all appear to use the same host/format/etc.
Those sites are easy to navigate. Post pics, etc
Might consider taking a look and see what you think about them.

The issue with the larger, more well-funded forums is they have their own server hosting everything with a forum software to make it work. At least that is my simpleton understanding. Since I no longer have a website to host it on nor an income stream to support it, I don’t have the knowledge or funds to start something up like theirs.
In my research of other “free” type forums, it seems the picture hosting issue is not unique to our forum. Unless someone has the knowledge, or cares enough about their business enough to do something proactive and get help with this, I see us not being around for long.

I understand what you're saying. just wasn't aware of the cost involved. Format wise, I do like how they are set up.

So, to the uninitiated or uninformed - what would be the cost to run a forum such as VMF, etc? Would it be necessary to allow those annoying ads to be posted to help defray the costs?
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
