Last random photo from my days back in Washington state. This bridge spans a place called Deception Pass. It is an interesting bridge. And the tide passing through this pass actually produces whirl pools in the ocean water at the peak flows. You can read a little about it Hereif you're interested.

Just drove across that bridge Friday - about two miles up the road to the north is a place called The Shrimp Shack. Got 5 lbs of cooked shrimp for the weekend. I spent quite a bit of time there at Deception Pass and at the state park there back in 68-74 when I was based at NAS Whidbey Island in the Navy. The base is only a couple of miles from the pass. I have driven my boat through the pass - and only at a slack tide. The current through the pass is wicked if you try to go through during high flow. I watched a sailboat under power from a small outboard get pushed right back out of the pass and almost onto the rocks when they tried to pass at high flow. Currently the bridge is under repair/repainting for a few more weeks.
