Can the seal on the shift lever shaft be changed without removing the shaft? It has been too long since I messed with one.

Drop the pan, remove valve body, remove shifter shaft, remove offending seal, install new seal...

I thought that had to be the procedure. I will let the tranny shop deal with it.
