Re: sniper efi ,,, now it's over .

About the Edel-broke carb.........I have one  AND.........if you get the tune-up kit and read the tune up chart on the internet (www.edelbrock.com I think) the carb CAN  & SHOULD be leaned down some to get rid of the eye-burning richness that seems to be prevalent with these carbs.
Several factors determine what to change on the carb......altitude....cam size....stuff like that.
Once you figure out HOW to read the chart...the rest is just swap rods/springs/jets until it runs its best and doesn't burn your eyes or make your clothes stink. (MOST of the problem is the "crummy gas" we have to use)

My experience is that with a stockish 289 you'll want to go two steps lean on cruise and acceleration with a 500cfm
Edlebrock.  The gas smell is extremely minute at that setting.  Not really a gas smell at all.

Re: sniper efi ,,, now it's over .

hello guys , my sweet edelbrock is again part of my mustang and right to say it's working easy . After this summer spent on sniper , now i can't imagine why i get in trouble with efi ... i didn't need it as well . Realized now that what i did , tuning my edelbrock , was a damn good job !
Yes , i can confirm that i can have lost 5 hp ...  This sacrifice is welcome paired to neverending efi problems .
Yes , i know many do not have any issue , happy for them !
And solved also another issue . I was always complainig about gas /fuel smell in my clothes and comes out was the filter .  To be clear i have bonnet scoop and instead of traditional steel filter cap i have the filter cap . I think that air into bonnet and that filter cap has bad influence or even disturb the natural air flow into carb . As this is not a "natural forced induction" i thought was better stay with the old one . now it's no more smelling around . . Now i know i did a good tune , maybe still not perfect but very close ! bye !

Re: sniper efi ,,, now it's over .

I'm glad you got it sorted out.
Your post definitely convinced me to stay with Carburettor for as long as I own the car. I was toying with the idea of EFI, but I've read too many forum posts where there are no end of issues.
Sometimes I think adding things such as EFI to these old things just complicates a simple car.
