Posted items for sale on Facebook marketplace today......I've come to the realization marketplace is fast becoming like craigslist.
People don't, can't or won't read the detailed add. They ask a plethora of stupid questions. Don't respond when I answer their legit question then, get all pissy when I mark it sold because that rare "normal" buyer came along and closed the deal.
Anyone else have similar experiences??? (hope not)

Yeah. Marketplace is a disaster. Tons of bot like responses from people. Responses are not organized in chronological order once you start responding. Only positive thing is you can view profiles.
It has gotten to a point where I will only sell on forums or eBay. Everything else gets donated or given away to friends. It just isn’t worth the hassle to deal with a bunch of random folks who may or may not be literate, truthful, drunk or on drugs.

Another famous quote by one of my friends can explain this.
“Stupid people shouldn’t breathe”
Hey, I resemble that remark! 😜
Kinda like…”do you still want cheese on your plain cheeseburger?”

My retirement plan was to sell off the stuff collected over the last 30 yrs from dismantled stangs. A lot of work went into cleaning and sandblast and whatever else was needed.
I just can't deal with the people and the problems that comes along with them. This pass summer I crushed a pickup load of it, and when we get back home in the spring there will be more.

Oh man I would NEVER use FB Marketplace. I am like Bentworker and will only sell to groups of people who have the same interest (this forum for example or a Lightning group).

My favorite is Will you take $xxx for it? (Significantly less than posted price). See, I'm driving all the way from (insert long distance city) and gas so much money! My husband really needs this!
I was down in my garage this morning going through my old tool box. This tool box contains some of the oldest and cheapest tools I own. I put all my old stuff in it over the years. It was the place I headed when someone knocked on the door to borrow a tool. Which really doesn't happen anymore. I've been really thinking by about downsizing and getting rid of most of it. I used to do a lot of work on the side of the road so to speak and things to help people out. When you do that, you wind up acquiring cheap tools, like Sams choice wrenches, helpless person bought, and things like Great neck channel lock pliers I bought when I was like 12. After many years, it really adds up, if your a packrat and never get rid of things. Hec, there's a set of really really old Pittsburgh impact sockets in there, in the metal case. I don't even remember how I got those, I'm sure they came from the era they were mail order only. I know I once used the stuffing out of them. I was just admiring just how thick the wall sides are.
Anyways, now I think I'd rather just let it sit there, than deal with the tweakers from facebook.

No one accepts responsibility nowadays. There was a reason for whippings or a thwack to the head with a ruler while in school. I managed to get many of both.

I had a young person ask me at Arby’s,
“Do you want your shake for here or to go?”
After realizing there wasn’t a difference.
We both laughed about it.
As I walked away, I could other coworkers in the back laughing too.

I also love when they say "I have cash". Yeah, because I was going to take a check from you...
If you're coming to pick something up you're paying in cash, so no, I won't take half what its worth if you pay the only way I was ever going to accept anyway.

I like this quote and Dan, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

I have sold several items through Facebook Market place and had pretty good luck listing the adds in groups that where more specific to what I was dealing with. The winner was the first one that could send me money electronically.
On a side note, I don't know that I ever saw one of my adds as I scrolled through the for sale stuff. All of the messaging was one on one. Other than me the the potential buyer, I don't know if anyone else saw the dialogue.

I have had multiple experiences on FB Marketplace and some have been good, most have been incredibly aggravating to deal with. I don't even go on Craigslist anymore. It's almost a complete waste of time.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
