Interior Care

I used to occasionally use Armoral on the dash and seats, but heard this was not good to use.
What do you guys use on upholstery to keep it in good shape and protect from sun damage?

Re: Interior Care

I use PoorBoy’sWorld Natural Look   cleaner and protectant.
It’s good for leather, vinyl, rubber, plastic as well as tires.
I was never impressed with Armoral, too shiny for the dash and seems to turn tires brown.

Re: Interior Care

I used Armorall for years, but found it attracts dust and is silicone based, so if you need to clean it off its quite difficult and requires special products.  I was also never a fan of how it made everything super glossy and gave it a wet look that wasn't how the vinyl was supposed to look.  For general cleaning I tend to just use a damp lint free cloth.  If I need to clean stuff off that won't come off with just water I use Meguiars Natural Shine.  It cleans well, doesn't contain silicone, and leaves a natural looking finish.

Re: Interior Care

I’ve been using Griot’s ‘Vinyl & Tire Dressing’.  On the interior vinyl it doesn’t leave that shiny look that Armoral has and doesn’t attract dust.  On the tires it leaves a natural ‘new tire’ look, rather than the shiny, oily look of some tire dressings.

Re: Interior Care

I use a damp towel.  Armorall went away for me years ago  - too shiny, and too sticky.

Re: Interior Care

Since I have a convertible and real leather seats  my concern is UV protection. A damp cloth will work for occasional cleaning but the sun does damage that water can’t help.
I still do complete leather treatment every winter with Autoglym leather treatment.

Leather is a whole different animal.  Get it?  Ha!

Re: Interior Care

Thanks guys.
I would only ever use the Armoral very occasionally, but I'm done with it.
I have an all vinyl interior and my main concern is keeping the dash protected from cracking.
The Meguiar's products are quite good, but I've never used their interior products yet.
What is good for vinyl dash protection?

Re: Interior Care

For a vinyl dash I would look for a product that is water based not silicone and specifies UV protection.
Some products specify not to use on floor mats, brake or clutch pedals and certainly not on motorcycle seats, they are too slippery,  the stuff I use is ok to use on those applications.

Natural Shine is what I use.  However, if you have used Armorall in the past my advice would be to clean it off before using anything else.  Sometimes the silicone products and nonsilicone products create kind of an opaque  mess.  Trisodium phosphate (TSP) will remove silicone, or there are specific cleaners to remove silicone that you can buy at any autobody shop supply store (including a NAPA from my experience).  These products won't damage anything; they are just cleaners.

Meguiars Natural Shine.  Interesting that the pleather bearing animals are not on the endangered species list isn't it?  Kind of like how chickens and cows will never be endangered species.
