1966 Mustang Coupe, 1988 5.0 Swap, T5z
I'm going to bite the bullet and try one of the MS clutch kits. I have a bell housing from a 1988 foxbody paired up with the T5. The current clutch is hydraulic clutch kit I purchased from modern driveline about 7 years ago:
64.5-66 Mustang Hydraulic Clutch Master Kit - Type 3 - Modern Driveline
It has worked ok but it squeaks now and I can't seem to get the pedal or clutch adjusted right. It doesn't seem like I'm getting full disengagement of the clutch either. I have to pull the shifter back hard to get it to release. From what I recall, MS told me a while back that the cable kits were much more reliable.
I'll have a few days off in 2 weeks I want to try and get the job done. STEVE I'm going to give you a call tomorrow to discuss. I want to make sure I get everything I need. I'm in Dallas, if it's alright with you I might just drive down to you to pick up the kit to make sure I get it in time.

Hey Joe…where ya goin’ with that clutch in your hand?
This is what I installed back in 2017/2018 winter.
My 65 coupe had factory 4 wheel power drum brakes.
For 25+ years I had Granada disc brakes and rear drums(with single jar master and booster).
Now it has 2016 GT brakes front and rear (2001 V6 Mustang master cylinder).
This kit works well with Granada spindles and 65 spindles.
Hope this helps.

CK-165 is the basic kit. If you want to add power brakes, the CK-165-M kit has everything including pedals.
I am no longer in Dallas. Michael is in Cleburne. He has all the stuff now.

Which Michael? or Who is Michael? I grew up in Johnson County so I'm familiar with Cleburne. I usually take the kids to Fort Worth this time of the year to see the Christmas tree in downtown. I suppose I can plan for an extra 2 hours to go pickup the parts. I'll try and give you a call this morning. I don't need anything related to brakes. I just am hoping that going with the cable clutch vs hydraulic will require less fine tuning and traditional clutch pedal feel.

The cable clutch system will work great. You mentioned squeaking…. Might want to consider the ballbearing clutch pedal shaft kit I designed. Since you have to take it apart anyway. You will never do it again with ck-165 and bbk bearing kit.
Michael was my machinist and he bought the company when I retired. His contact info is on mustangsteve.com, or you can order online.

Did you have the internal bearing or external slave cylinder?

External Slave Cylinder.
I'd like to avoid having to pull everything down again. Any kind of bellhousing swap is not in the budget right now either.

Is it a T5 bellhousing that uses PULL type linkage, like from a foxbody?

I would think the squeaking is the clutch pedal shaft rubbing on the support. I had two clutch/brake pedal assemblies from 65-66 Mustangs and both needed repairs. If the shaft is badly worn the stroke of the hydraulic master cylinder may be shorter causing the pressure plate not to operate correctly. I did the MS ballbearing kit to repair mine and am very happy with it.

Yes, bellhousing is from a foxbody.
And I just remembered one of the reasons I went with the hydraulic system was clearance issues with the original cable routing and the aftermarket headers.
I'm going to post a video of the clutch action and see if anyone can give me an idea what I need to do. Getting the hydraulic system to work would save me money and heart ache. I'm going to give it one more shot to adjust it before switching to the cable system.

Have you reached out to modern driveline? Perhaps they can help remdy, repair or replace....
