Yep, keep the heat inside the pipes and the velocity up. Anything with a turbo benefits from coating the turbine housing too.

Going from cast iron logs to externally ceramic coated tri-y headers I cannot honestly say that my under hood temps decreased that much, sorry no empirical evidence
My seat of the pants feeling that my biggest engine bay temperature drop was due to the removal of the complete Bendix power steering set up.
Mind you, ceramic coating sure looks purdy but header wrap is a lot cheaper.

It looks like if anyone is running headers that are not ceramic coated, then they are just cooking the inside of their engine bay big time. On the dyno, the coated headers were a little over 200 degrees while the uncoated headers were well over 800 degrees. The camera man said the headers were heating up the dyno room. Imagine in an engine bay with the hood down.
I'm pretty sure you need the ceramic inside to keep the heat from ever reaching the header metal.

The problem with header wrap is that while it does keep heat in it does not provide a thermal barrier for the headers. Long term this causes the headers to fail from heat cycling. The steel eventually cracks.

I opted for ceramic coating more as extending the life of the headers. I think the fish gills in the hood helped with the heat more than the coating.
To get it internal, are they dipping it? Or do the have some other method? I haven’t been able to watch the video to see if they explained it.

I believe that quality ceramic coatings can reduce temps and protect the metal.
There are a couple of things that everyone should be aware of too.
First, most headers will have a disclaimer about the use for breaking in an engine.
Why if it can handle it?
Second, when the temperature is taken on the coated header after the dyno run.
The header is way more than 190F. If he marked a small spot with black paint or black electric tape after (it would have melted during dyno) he would have a much higher temperature.
An example of this is a teflon coated pan.
Cook your burger or bacon in the pan, the temp gun will show true temperature inside pan.
The aluminum exterior will read low, you’ll burn your fingers if ya touch it.
The ceramic coating and aluminum reflect infrared from temperature gun.
Temp guns also have a range in which they are accurate as well.
Please don’t burn yourself on the pan or the ceramic headers.
The gun says it’s only 190F…ouch!
