While I wait for the weather to warm up to do a shelby drop on my 68 Cougar, Is there anything else that whould be done while I have the upper and spring out of there???

A make up and weld in the tire side shock tower to frame rail reinforcement . Make up a cardboard template of the brace rather than buying the high priced offerings.
Don’t forget to weld the original upper mount holes.

His is closer to spherism. Looks like a bunch of grapes (his own description)
I would certainly rework the UCA’s per MustangSteve specifications while they are out.

I was going to weld the original mount holes, then I started thinking someday some future owner then may perform a Shelby Shelby drop. . Kind of need a way to identify that its been done. I did not solve this thought. So I did not weld the original holes.

Be sure and do the Arning drop (thanks Corky!)
1" sway bar....1 piece export bar...Monte Carlo bar
(You'll think you're driving a GT-40 when finished!!)

When you do the Monte Carlo brace, file the holes square and use carriage bolts with a nut under the inner fender.
If you use hex bolts, they will dent the bottom of your hood.

Check and make sure you have enough room for the grease fittings

I have hex bolts on mine and they do not hit the hood.
So check to be sure.

I should have said fender bolts with integral washer. Every time I have seen those used, dents have resulted.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
