2016 Ford Mustang. 19990 miles. I got the dredded engine light. Well, not the check engine light, but the wrench. Which means its a more serious code and needs service immediately.
Of course, she's all out of warranty now. I would put the scan to it, but it just happens to be super cold today. And I hope its something I can deal with as I do not know anything about the drive by wire technology. (which some snafu seems to be a major reason for the big wrench light). She's been almost trouble free over the last five years. Just a thermostat and a new battery both under warranty.
I hope a mouse didn't decide to get in there and have a meal. I guess we will see...

Maybe emissions related? That stuff has five year warranty, doesn’t it!

Which engine Greg? Any obvious running or behavior changes?

When I had my late model Mustang I bought a code reader to check if the computer threw any codes of what the issue could be. I gives a bit of ammunition if and when the car has to be “hospitalized”
Wouldn’t hurt to pick one up, I think even HF has an inexpensive entry level one.

I do guess if its something emissions related it could be under warranty. It seemed to run fine up to the dollar store, but I didn't go any farther.
I'm going to go put some pants back on and scan it. The suspense is killing me.

If you are lucky it might just be a bad sensor.

I took it for a test drive after I scanned it. It had a nasty hesitation that was never there before but, oddly it went away and now seems to be running fine. My conclusion for the time being is I need to drive it more.
I scanned it no wrench icon or logos came on this on, and it scanned clean.
Edit: come April I will have owned this 6 years now!

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
