Continued…
I ordered a new front valance and spoiler today, plus some more red paint.
So, there is still more to remove.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

I hope the upper ends of your valance fits better than mine. The curves where the fender, fender extension and valance meet didn't play nice together on mine. The spoiler is a two man job, or a one man who has skills.

Fortunately, I have a walkup attic that I can store parts.

I enclosed the big attic in my new shop to KEEP ME FROM FILLING IT FULL OF PARTS.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

Well, today the 69’s front valance and spoiler AND bumper came off.
Front gravel pan and valance showed up from CJ Pony. Both parts are total garbage. Trying to return them.
NPD was out of stock…

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

Unbelievable news…
I emailed CJPony about the parts. I got a reply about four hours later!!! The lady asked for pictures of rIpples and hammer marks. After sending pics of the valance where one edge had been very unprofessionally percussion engineered (pre e-coat) she said to send her a picture of the part after I destroy it and she will issue a full refund. She said it is uneconomical for them to pay to send it back.  Sure seems like an expensive way for them to unload all their defective parts, all the while using their customers as a QC department.

Now I guess my can car run around without a front valance as well as without a radiator shroud.

This shows the valance “formed edge” under passenger side turn signal.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

Shame the QC has to come from the customer. Before destroying are you going to check fit to see if it's worth getting another or wait for NPD.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

Sux the parts are banged up. Great that CJ's customer service helped to at least create a refund.

What were the issues with the original ones that caused you to order new parts.

Original valance has a big dent on one side where it apparently encountered a high curb. Plus it has mislocated spoiler attaching holes.
Gravel pan is bent in the center, but would take less effort to fix than the new one.
Old valance could be fixed, but I was trying to just take the easy route and have one I could just paint and install.

I must agree the logic of prepping a new part for paint is easier than having to break out the body hammers, dollies and welder and still having to deal with the paint process.
Years ago I opted for new rear valance with the same logic but even then had to massage the fit at the quarter panel and it was a NOS part.
Some times you can’t win for trying.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

I have a technique for making rear valance fit right. Very simple. I have an article on forum somewhere.

Unfortunately did not work on my 69 very well since left quarter has some work done in less than stellar fashion. I will just live with a little mismatch until the car gets painted, if it ever gets painted.

I am liking Dan’s patina finish better all the time.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

I agree!.....Pretty sad when you pay good $ and get stuff that the parts you're replacing look better than "the new stuff".
Thankful  my buying replacement parts are history.
BUTT........where's the 'old-Mustang-Steve' we all know?!! The one that can "invent" stuff to make Mustangs better!
The one that can fabricate pieces outta chunks of 'arn'!
Break out the old hammer and dolly and welder you have 'wielded' in the past!
Be the Steve whose motto could be
"cut-to-suit-beat-to-fit".....Those original pieces (OEM!!!) just need a little love...a little tweak...a little tune-up!
After-market.....china krap...slave labor made...what did you expect?!
It's all about the buck with these companies...like a teenage boy..."maybe this will be good enough"...
"ehhh close enough."..these clowns don't know what a good fit is...
Git-after-it-Steve and bring those OEM! parts back to life!!!

Be careful you don't piss off Murphy, I'm sure Murphy can come up with reasons to cause you to be shopping for replacement parts...

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

Hello Steve, While I was talking to NPD in Ventura, Calif. I asked them if they had a  69 valence in stock. They said nope and that their possible delivery date was hoping to be in 8 plus weeks from now. That was the best they could guess. I'll bet that CP has a few returned damaged in stock valences and they are just dumping them to see if some guys will take a discount to keep them when they find out they are defective.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

CJ Pony had me send them pics of both parts that I folded in half. They promptly issued me a refund on both parts. These parts were improperly manufactured, not damaged in shipment.

Summit offers three different brands of front valances. I bought my rear valance from them and was pleased with it. I may order another front valance of that same brand and see what happens.

But, like sal said, now that the old parts are off the car, they could be fixed. But I prefer a new one that has not been drilled full of improperly spaced spoiler holes.

In case anyone is looking for one, I want to use a 1970 front valance to eliminate the side marker lamps the 69 has.

Great idea. I thought of doing that many years after I bought my front valance.

Re: The WYAIT MONSTER is alive and well in Canyon Lake

I just ordered a 1970 front valance Dynacorn and a 1969 front stone guard Dynacorn brand.
Cost $40 more for the pair than the CJ Pony junkers.

I will let you know how this turns out.
