Found a really cool video............

Match racing in the 64-65-66 time period!!
I haven't watched the whole thing butt.........keep in mind its filmed with super 8 movie camera.
(I slowed down the play back speed one notch to better understand the narration)
Some of y'all are my age and older (thanks Bullet Bob!) and will prolly enjoy a look at the past when...
I THINK...was the best days of drag racing!
Factory supported teams and some independent racers who really put on a good show.....
Spectators were close enough to get a real-feel  for the power going down the strip.....
The cool ritual each team went through before each trip down the strip...
Days of 'No-prep' tracks and limited traction slicks...
Days of "Run-what-cha-brung and hope Ya-brung enough"
Open trailers/roll-back trucks/flat-towed race cars ya could buy from any dealership...
The"heady-smells"  of nitro/burnt rubber/sweat/beer/ cigar smoke all mixed together
ALL DAY fun that guys under 70 wouldn't know about.......
                                      under60..maybe you heard about it
                                      under50...you ain't gotta clue!
Enjoy!!
(I had forgotten how they would swap lanes and run again!)

Re: Found a really cool video............

Couple of things...
Bill Jenkins drove a Mopar? Learn sumpin ever day.

They mention M&H Racemasters slicks. The H stands for Ernie Hashim, a local guy who owned Famoso dragstrip. Been buddies with his daughter for nine, ten years. Recently learned she was his daughter, and who has some incredible stories from back in the day.

Cool stuff Sal.
