    Steering box install

    I installed a FR steering box in my 68 today. It has led an easy previous life pushing a Bendix ps control valve back and forth.
    Remains to be seen if it can stand up to its new life being motivated by EPAS.

    Rudi - what is an "FR" steering box? 
    And, why would the mechanical strain on the box be different from a hydraulic operated system? (if the rest of the steering system hasn't changed)

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.

    Bob, with a Bendix power steering, the steering box only operates the shuttle valve on the hydraulic steering control on the end of the drag link, probably just a few pounds left and right from the pitman arm.

    With EPAS the steering box has to deal with what is basically a manual steering set up and the required forces needed to turn the wheels.
    The ps and manual drag links are different.
    The Flaming River and the Lares steering boxes have gotten a lot of bad press over the years.
    The first FR box I got had to be returned because the the output shaft  had incorrect spline counts on it.
