4 wheel Cobra Power Disc still not locking up.

I have the MS Cobra disc brake kit front and rear on my 66 FB.  I recently added the MS roller bearing pedal hanger, clutch quadrant & brake pedal, as well as the Power brake booster.  I am using the 2000 V6 mustang master cyl, & adjustable prop. valve.  I am very pleased with the way the clutch feels, and the power brakes feel great at low speeds.  However, when I have road tested it to try to adjust my prop. valve, I can not get the brakes to lock up at all, no matter how I adjust the valve.  I have bled the brakes, pedal feels good, I just figured this setup would stop way better than it is.  What am I missing?  The eng. is a 408W, hyd. roller cam, but nothing crazy ( don't remember the spec.s  right now), EFI, 5 speed Tremec.  Any pointers??

Re: 4 wheel Cobra Power Disc still not locking up.

Try adjusting the prop valve to full open, rotated clockwise.
What kind of brake pads are you using?  I have found that ceramic or anything stating LIFETIME WARRANTY will not stop as well as the OReilly BrakeBest brand inexpensive pads, or a better aftermarket more aggressive pad.
Do you have the parking brake adjusted and in working order?  If not, you will never get complete pressure to rear pads.

Re: 4 wheel Cobra Power Disc still not locking up.

Thank you Sir. I believe I have the PowerStop carbon ceramic pads. I will try the proportioning valve adjustment some more. I have never had the parking brake working correctly since converting to rear discs, first Lincoln Versailles & now the Cobra Brakes. I am going to use a lever mounted on the trans tunnel instead of the mustang’s under dash brake pull, to see if that works better. Thanks for the advice.

Re: 4 wheel Cobra Power Disc still not locking up.

I am using the 66 underdash parking brake on my car. I have used it with the cobra and the 2019 GT 13” rear discs. It works perfectly.
It is important to have the parking brake functional and used occasionally to keep the rear brakes adjusted properly.

I used a lever from a 97 Ford Escort. I used the mounting plate for under the floor and Cobra brake cables. I only had to drill a small hole in the tunnel for the cable. I posted pics in the how to page if they’re still there.

Re: 4 wheel Cobra Power Disc still not locking up.

I think I saw that in the how to forum a while ago. That’s what I will try, thank you. Did the parking brake work better for you after that change?

I will try getting my original under dash lever working right, before nor modifications. I seem to be better at bolting parts on than tuning them to make them work right!
