OK, so I finally decided that I need to spend a few bucks on the interior of my '67 Coupe - carpet, upholstery for the buckets, maybe gauges, etc. The first need is upholstery for the buckets. I really like the TMI Sport II seat upholstery because of the extra "bolstering". Looks sharp. Well, I tried to place an order and was advised that it will be 3-4 months before they are shipped. Not acceptable. I have not been able to find any similar products. Do I really have to wait 3-4 months or are there any other options? My Coupe has blue interior with the 2 tone blue seats and it is important to me to keep the same theme. Any suggestions?

How about a good auto interior shop? We have several here. Maybe more expensive, but they are more available. They might have what you need in stock and don't have to wait for the boat from China to be unloaded.

I put the TMI Sport foam and upholstery in my '68 back in 2014. While I like the raised sides of the seats, I did not expect the foam under the thighs to be raised. This pushes the legs towards the steering wheel. I found that a 13 inch steering wheel lands in the view of the instruments. Anything close to a 15 inch steering wheel gives a good view of the instruments but hits the legs. I finally found a 14 inch steering wheel that is a best compromise; however, had I realized this I would have opted for the standard seat foam and upholstery.
.
I'm still running the sport seat upholstery and 14 inch steering wheel since this combination is working fine for me.

That 3-4 month wait with TMI isn’t a new problem. I balked at ordering a couple years ago when they said the same thing. Wish I hadn’t.

Another suggestion still involves a probable TMI delay, but I know that both Bullet Bob and terry (and probably many others) ordered TMI seat covers for 91ish Fox sport seats with the 65/66 pony look. With the correct choice of seat covers, the fox seats look right at home in the early cars, in my opinion. I believe the fox seats provide the added comfort and avoid the leg to wheel clearance issues that Rufus68 refers to.

All the TMI stuff I believe is made to order. Even before the recent insanity with shipping, delays, etc. it took a decent amount of time to get. I waited probably 3 months for my TMI front seats. I'm VERY glad I did. I really like the seats. They are very comfortable, look correct in the car, and have held up very well after several years of use. I couldn't imagine taking a long road trip in the stock seats, but with the TMI seats I look forward to them.

Does this statement mean you'll be attending the Bash in Alabama this year?

I had a 9 week delivery time when I ordered the 66 parchment color for 07 seats. They arived on time. If it's what you want, make the order and be prepared to wait.

Strong possibility, but I wouldn't be able to drive there if I do. I'd just lose too much time in travel.

OK, talked me into it. I'll order the seat upholstery I want tonight. Hate waiting but it is what it is.

What TimC said. I put TMI "66 Pony" on 87 Fox seats back in 06 or 07 and they are still perfect. If there is any question I would also recommend you pop for new foam...or is that automatic with the Sport Seats?
I know you hate the wait but I gotta ax...how long have you been making do with what's in it? Yeah, yeah...I know. Me too.

Of course, you are correct BB. I have endured these crappy seats for maybe 15 years. The foam is extra but I will order that in a couple of months as there is no waiting period. I am now advised that it may be 18 weeks before I get the upholstery. Being well into my senior years my fear is ------. Well, lets not go there.
Anyway, it was 70 F today and I took the 'stang out for a long run. Lots of thumbs up. Made my day!

I complained about the 18-week wait for my TMI upholstery but was talked into going ahead with the order. So, in early January I did. Well, I just received email notification that my stuff has been shipped! I am ecstatic! Thank you for talking me into doing this, Can't wait!

Had the same issue after installing mine. My head was hitting the ceiling and my gut was hitting the wheel...LOL I removed the seat adjusters and bolted the seats to the floor.

Lots of how too’s on line.
Get a quality hog ring plier, the cheap ones will be hard on the hands, I like the offset ones. A small 8” bolt cutter is better than plain wire cutters. Grab a 500 count bag of hog rings.
Use heavy coat hangers for listing wires. Use hardware store burlap between the buns and seat frames, much cheaper than the same stuff from Mustang places.
Extra padding if needed can be had at dry goods stores. Get a bunch of those thin plastic clothes bags from dry cleaner places, pulling them over the seat back before putting the cover on, they make the cover slide real good over the foam.
Lay the covers out in the hot Texas sun to soften them up before you install them.
A heat gun can be carefully used to work out wrinkles.
When I did my 68 seats it took a couple of try’s on the first seat before I got the hang of it. Don’t be hesitant to undo the cover if it doesn’t look right, just cut the hog rings, make the necessary adjustments and have at it again.
That’s about all I got for now, I’m sure you will do a great job, good luck.
