Finally finished the exhaust system on the 69 today. Hope to fire the engine in a day or two. Can’t wait to hear what a stockish 2” system sounds like with a 331..

Looking good! From the bumper down it’s a dead ringer of my 68.
I wonder how it will sound, I have a stock 2” exhaust system on mine that has resonators and a transverse muffler.
It would be interesting to compare both, even though my 331 internals are no the same as yours.
I have tri-y headers and an “H” pipe.

These are not real aggressive looking but they go with my “original looking 1969 T5 coupe” look. I hope the mufflers are not too loud and don’t have any drone. One concern is how tight the mufflers and pipes are supported. I used rubber hangers on mufflers and 66 GT style tailpipe hangers. There is not much movement if you bang on a muffler with your fist. I have 5/8” clearance between mufflers and floor of the car.

Looks very good, Steve. Not the same engine but I' have a 2" system with short Quiet Flows, no H pipe. Sounds good but subdued until I mash it a bit, then it sounds off pretty good...but then I can't hear much anyway so what do I know? NO DRONE!

Amusement? Do I amuse you?
I'm just glad you used them, centered them in the notch, and level with each other. But I'd expect nothing less. Good job Steve.

Ya, almost like they were made to.

So far, these tips have more miles on them in a UPS truck than they do on any Mustang.
Original owner (maybe?) bought them from a Mustang vendor and had them shipped to his house.
I bought them on ebay and had them shipped.
I sold to BBII and shipped Tx to Calif.
BBII drove them in his fastback to bring them back to me in Tx.
Maybe NOW they can get some real use!

More miles on the UPS Truck..... Good one.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
