Drive shaft length

Have a 65 coupe 302 with a OD conversion and original 8 inch Ford rear end
Does anyone know if they make different length yokes for the driveshaft I purchased a t5 AOD yoke with my steel driveshaft measuring 51 inches when I add the yoke and install the driveshaft yoke bottoms out in the transmission

Guessing my driveshaft still may be too long or I have the wrong yolk
Any suggestions thanks

Re: Drive shaft length

Both the yoke at the tranny and the yoke on the third member can be had in different lengths.

Re: Drive shaft length

For what it's worth when I converted my C 4 to AOD I had to cut an inch off the drive shaft

Re: Drive shaft length

I'm not sure about the tranmission yoke lengths.  My driveshaft is 50.25" long, center to center w/1330 U-Joints.  This is with a 9" rear and a T5 transmission.

Re: Drive shaft length

How much too long is the yoke?  If it is fully splined, can you cut the yoke down some?

1968 T-code Coupe with a 302.  Nice car, no show stopper for sure, but I like it.

Re: Drive shaft length

When I replaced the c4 in Cara’s 65 coupe with an AOD, I took a pipe cutter and trimmed the c4 yoke to fit. Did not have to change the driveshaft length.

The pipe cutter cuts it square but raises the cut edge a little bit. I cleaned the ridge up with a file. It worked great.

Re: Drive shaft length

Be careful even if you cut the the Yoke it can still bottom out inside. Going from FMX to 4r70w I shortened the shaft 1,5 inch from 4r70w to TKO500 again 1 inch :-)
