Intake manifold gap

I’m test fitting an intake manifold.

All factory intake gaskets have been removed with some remains of gasket material still attached to cylinder heads.

What is an acceptable air gap along China walls?

Just test fitting at this time.

Re: Intake manifold gap

I'd be concerned if there was more than 3/8".  I think the normal is more like 1/4".

Re: Intake manifold gap

"China walls"?  I'm not familiar with this term, are these the areas at the front and rear of the intake manifold that mate to the lifter valley?

The end gaps with gaskets torqued are usually 1/8”

End seals Bob.

Thanks MS, I ended up with 1/8”-9/32” (using my drill bits).

Re: Intake manifold gap

The China Wall - I found this place while deer hunting a few years ago - kinda weird finding it way out in the woods miles from any towns.

Re: Intake manifold gap

There's a China Wall about 20 miles east of here in the foothills.  It was named during the gold rush days.  What for I don't know.
