My 68 Cougar XR7 received a good upgrade, thank you Steve for all the help. I now have a 66 Mustang 8" Trak-Lok with 3:25 gear and 2015 Mustang rear disc brakes. Pretty easy when someone else assembled the rear for me. Nice change from the original peg-leg 3:00 gears and drums. Also finished the parking brake mods using 2015 cables and new section to still use the factory handle and hardware.
Still have to adjust the bias to the rear a bit but my cat is running great. Haven't done a burnout yet but that is why I wanted the trak-lok to keep them planted.

Glad to see you are making progress on the Cougar.
Now, for some big front brakes.

Please share details of your parking brake install.
Sounds like a nice combination.

Mustang steve kit using the 2015 disc brakes on an 8" rear. Bought a left and fight stock 2015 parking brake cables from Rockauto. They come with multiple brackets on each cable and I only cut off 2 on each. I routed them toward the stock 1968 e brake hardware. I also purchased a Dorman ebrake cable kit and used the unions in the kit and cut the cable to fit and tightened a cable stop on one end I shortened. Tightened and adjusted it . Parking brake works.
If I could post pics I would take some pics.

Billy, here is my setup on the 65.
It’s in the Tips and How To’s section.
I used 97-02 Escort brake cables.
I believe that some cables have a retaining clip to locate the caliper end bracket.
One of those might be easier to modify, no welding required on cable end…possibly.
I also removed the extra cable brackets as needed too.
The Escort loop is larger than is needed, a simple zip tie prevents the loop from falling off the caliper park lever.
I crimped 2 cable stops per end for peace of mind and mimic length of a factory cable stop…this is a parking brake.

Awesome.
