Is anyone running four piston front discs rear drum with manual master cylinder no booster if so what is your set up
And what are your thoughts over that set up versus power front disc

I had the SS 4-piston front brakes (per originally option in 65-66) with sliding caliper rear disc brakes, and a dual master cylinder from a 94/95 Cobra SVT, Raybestos #MC390217. One needed a heavy foot for braking, although it wasn't so bad. However, I did convert to a hydro-boost power brake system and changed the master cylinder to fit this new setup. I have the 94/95 master cylinder, let me know if you’re interested.

I ran the stock K-H front disks for almost 40 years with no problems. The car stopped on a dime. MC was the stock single pot version. The original lasted until about '95 and was replaced with another. We did not know about the need for two reservoir MC's then. When I installed the SSBC rear disks (which are duplicates of the SVOs) I went with a 74 Maverick disk-drum MC which is still there.
I have never thought that a car as light as ours needs power, but at my age (81) with less strength I'm thinking of converting to power. I have not thought of what kind I would use.

I did a power brake conversion last year Wilwood four piston calipers with slotted rotors leed Break 7 inch double diaphragm booster and their power brake master cylinder have had nothing but trouble with the feel of the brakes and the pedal travel like lots of people on the Internet are fighting the same problem I would like to switch back but don’t want to change the front calipers and discs so if you do go power make your choice carefully

I have been very satisfied with the Mustang Steve power brake setup.
This replaced my original 4 wheel power drum brake setup (single jar).
For over 25 years I ran stock brake setup with Granada brakes and rear drum.
When I first did my upgrade, I wanted to change only one thing at a time, I still had Granada brakes and drum setup. I did install 2001 v6 Mustang master cylinder with upgrade.
It was easy to tell the difference…even with my eyes closed.😁
I have since changed to 2016 Mustang GT brakes front and rear.
There’s many ways to build it or buy it depending on your skills and abilities.

I have stock type front 4 piston calipers with rear drums. The fronts are an SSBC kit I installed 27ish years ago at this point. Initially I had some issues getting them properly bled, but once that was handled they worked fine. Mine is a vacuum boosted power system, though I may swap that for hydroboost at some point. The planned engine swap probably isn't going to make enough vacuum to properly operate the booster. I will probably also go to '94-'03 Cobra brakes all around at the same time because I'll need better stopping with the amount of power I've planned. I like that setup becasue its what I run on my '89 GT, so on both cars brakes will be brakes and use the same parts (less to remember and fewer spares to need on hand).
