Window Regulator Removal

Hi all
1965 200 ci manual 3 - about ready to take a hammer to the door but thought I would pause and ask advice. I must be missing something simple on the window regulator removal. Removed the scissors and detached from the regulator extension. Removed the bolts to free the regulator. Tried for about 2 hours but can't figure out how to slide it past the window channel. Tried to attach a picture but it does not seem to be working.

Any advice on getting the window regulator past the door channel.

Thanks

Robert

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Did you unbolt and remove the short roller track on the door body?

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Yes - I removed the short window track at the bottom held on by two bolts. I don't seem to be able to get the regulator past the window channel that guides the up and down movement of the window.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

If I remember correctly, I had to remove the two "weatherstrips" to remove the window regulator.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

The regulator is removed through the big hole in the inside of the door, not through the top.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Here's a video that removes the front window regulator.  It is pretty slow at the beginning so you might want to skip towards the end to see the actual removal.

You can also use a duck bill vise grip with a towl to help hold the window and save for hands from the screw driver slipping out from holding up the window.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Window regulator is also held together where it meets the scissor mechanism. Need to remove the clip. Should pop out once clip and four bolts.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Rufus68 - thanks for the video. Finally got it. Loosening the division bar was what worked. The access hole for the bolt for the division bar was covered by a piece of black tape and I didn't see it. Once I saw it in the video it was easy to get to and loosen so the regulator could come out.

Thanks much again.

Re: Window Regulator Removal

Plastic or wood carpentry wedges also work great for holding the window up.
