Stock 289 is coming out and painted with POR-15 engine paint a 98 explorer 5.0 engine is going in I replaced the dished pistons with forged flat tops and Cam with Howard’s roller cam. Also reworked the GT40P heads along with the rebuilt 5 speed, added te Petronix distributor and Flow kooler water pump with the factory AC and power steering should be a nice Daily driver. I may see how it runs with the 3.00.1 gear in rear before seeing what route to go with it.

Sounds excellent Billy! What kind of horsepower are we talking? 300Hp?
I'm glad to hear POR 15 has made a comeback. 😆

Why spend more cash on POR? Are people having issues with regular engine paint? I never have. If POR stands for paint over rust... guess I don't get it.

I've used regular rattle can spray paint like Krylon or Rust-Oleum, and regular engine paint and never had problems with any of them.

it looks like I had it ceramic coated....looks better than any spray I have ever used.

I talked to a few guys at the local car show and the said they have really good luck with it. I brushed it on out of a pint can and looked like I had enough left to paint about 5 more engines lol it brushes on thick.

It’s going to be beautimus in that car! Let’s try to avoid the Georgia truck drivers this time! I think some of that blue Por15 would be great as a hair dressing for the first drive!

That is going to be an awesome, sensible engine, Billy. But, be careful, I hear that Por15 attracts large trucks blasting through intersections when you least expect it.
