Anyone on the forum own and/or use a F-250SD with the 6.2L engine? I'm considering moving up from my F-150 supercrew to the F-250SD. I don't want a diesel engine truck thus the reason for my specific question.
Looking for any feed back from personal use to include an overall rating of the F-250; any maintenace issues; trailer towing, etc.

We’ve had some 1 ton work trucks with the 6.2. They didn’t move like a race car, but they held up ok.

I own two of the older gen F250s, one '06 Diesel (6.0), one '07 gas (5.4 3V). I bought my first one because I could get the best deal on it, but after seeing what happened to my buddies who had GM or Dodge trucks I knew I made the right call. I will say, Toyotas are also great trucks, but they don't build anything over 1/2 ton.
As for towing, owning a Diesel I hate to tow with a gas truck. There's just no comparison power wise. My Diesel pulls a trailer so effortlessly I have to check to make sure its still there. Overall though, the long wheelbase, and weight of these trucks makes towing easy. Coming from a 1/2 ton its a BIG upgrade.
Maintenance, well, be on top of it and its not a big deal. A Diesel is considerably more expensive to maintain (parts are more expensive and wear out quicker due to the added weight). As for the gas trucks, not as bad. I usually get 60k out of a set of brakes, front end stuff can go 100k +, tires last reasonably well (I'd advise changing to General Grabbers after the OEMs wear out
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
