Some of us still work for a livin’. 😜

I have been working on replacing the old fluorescent lights in da garage.
They don’t like the cold either.

Had to focus on recovery the past week.  Won't be able to get back into wrenching for another 3-5 weeks, but once I do I've got some interesting (hopefully) stuff to post.

Dan - I modified my 4’ fluorescent fixtures for 5000K LEDs and love the quantity of light they give off, very bright (as I find I need as I age!).  I re-used some of the fluorescent fixture end caps (“tombstones”, as they are called), but others couldn’t be modified.  I got replacement end caps from Home Depot.

If it was"t for Billie asken  questions, We wouldn't have diddly squat. Sumboddys got to have a car their worken on. I'm waiting on my UCA to arrive any day now .Dan, why not switch to LED'S? I don't think they are as cold sensitive as rheostat  lights are. But then it's winter, Everything slows down. Ya get hunkerd in, Nobody wants to work in the cold, wet weather. The thought of working in 60* temps. sends chill to the bone.

I put 22 LED 48” lights in my new shop. Still needs another one over the workbench. Lights were under $15 each on ebay.  They weigh about eight ounces each so are simple to mount.

My 71’ is still in paint jail.  Not doing much else worth posting about.

I kind of think of this place like a virtual Cheers bar.  It isn’t a bad thing that it is a small bunch of familiar faces.

I've got stuff going on, just not Mustang related. And I always feel like I am intruding when I post my truck crap

BUTT™ since you asked Sal! How's this?

Just finished up swapping harmonic balancers as my old Powerbond setup was spent. Ended up going with a nice Innovators West balancer with a stronger blower hub and built in 12 tooth crank trigger wheel. That took some fiddling in the Megasquirt to get right as I was running a 36-1 wheel previously, but my belt spacing was never right with the 36-1 wheel. With the new setup belt alignment is dead on.

Once I get the oil pan leak squared away I am going to start tinkering on an electric PS pump from a Mazda 3 along with a cool controller that allows the EFI system to "talk" to the pump and send it vehicle speed so it can vary the assist like OEM. That will allow me to just run an alternator and A/C compressor, doing that will let me run Fox body accessories and do away with the crazy F-150 belt setup (fine for stock trucks). Aaaand that in turn will, eventually, let me run a larger Procharger on the driver's side as a future blower upgrade.

Finally I 3D printed a seal installer for the timing cover when it's still attached to the motor. Made it dead easy to get the seal back in nice and straight. Especially since that IW balancer uses a custom $30 seal!

My LEDs seem unaffected by the cold.  I swapped my old fluorescents for LEDs a year or two back.  I added significantly more light than I had originally.  I need to upgrade the shop at some point too, but that requires a really tall A-frame ladder I have to borrow from my neighbor.  Well, that and moving a lot of stuff around...

I replaced big heavy fluorescent logs with slim,  light 5000K 4 foot  led linkable strips.
I have 8 of them in my 24x24 foot shop.
They give me way better light than what the old ones did,  still dark under the car though!🤪

Re: GE !!! Doesn't take long to read the latest post(s).....

I’ve been getting some missing parts for the 65 - the throttle bellcrank and throttle rod and throttle spring and bracket, etc so I can hook up the kick down rod. Also found a cowl brace rod for a 65 convertible so I can keep the stock look for now.
I have been trying to clean up and detail the engine compartment. Everything looks good, just needs some freshening up of the 39 rear old restoration my late brother in law did. I doubt he drove the car over 10k miles since then. I’ve done an aerosol overhaul of the engine and all the pulleys and brackets. Once I get the sidewalls and firewall done I’ll put it all back together.
I also drained about eight gallons of 4+ year old fuel out of the tank. Stuff looked like orange aid. No rust or debris, just nasty gas. Keep on trucking….

At work, the 8’ fluorescent lights in the garage were updated.
A double-double 4’  LED setup were installed.
It was definitely an improvement.
Those LED 4’ are by Keystone and run directly off 120 vac.

I just don’t care to have hanging shop lights with a garage that has 13’ walls.
I’m trying out some Hi bay canopy lights that mount to the ceiling…good thing it’s unfinished…open to the roof…cold storage garage, literally.

I only ordered and installed x3 65w LED 8,450 lumens canopy lights in a 32x40 garage.

I figured that I need 6-8 lights.
I wanted to see if they will provide the light (color and lumens) I desire, pun intended.

The next step up in line is 100w 13,000 lumens.
Both of these lights run on 100-277vac.
It has an internal LED driver to regulate the DC voltage to LED’s.

Besides just playing musical obstacles and setting up planks in the trusses to perform wiring modifications, this is to be powered by small inverter or portable generator.

Just got some pics from the painter 5 minutes ago.  Looks like my 71 will be out of paint jail soon.

Now if I can just recall how to post a pic.
