Yeah Barry, seen those about 5 years after I  built mine.
If did it again I’d go that route since my AOD has a VSS in it that sends the signal to the  controller.

 
I would have more faith in the VSS.
GPS… you have no control of at all.
Keep it Simple.

Ah hah, I now see that there are GPS versions as well as the VSS and the the kind I have with a “Knob”
What happens to the steering when GPS Loss going through long tunnels ?

Most of the electric setups will fallback to a default or "limp" mode setting. For example, the Volvo elec power steering pump that a lot of the Crown Vic swap guys and others use will default to ~70% assist and a set flow with no speed input. Lots of folks drive like that too, but as you can imagine you'll be over-assisted at speed and under when going slow or stopped.

The Bruno stuff stays on the same setting it was using when it lost signal.
If going through a tunnel at 70, it'll stay at the same level of assist until it regains signal.
If going into an underground carpark at 10 mph ....
