Today I bought a Leeds vacuum pump to help my power brakes out. With my new motor i have a whooping 12" of vacuum. I figure this mite aid in my braking ability's down the road. Anyone out there use them?

I have not used a vacuum pump. I believe that at least 16" of vacuum is the design base for optimal performance.

Don't know anything about "Leeds", Chris. But I do have experience with poor brakes due to low vacuum. Until I went back to the stock HO cam in the Heap, it was pulling about 10" of vacuum and brake performance was not good. I was only generating about 750 PSI on the front or rear calipers. I also went to a vacuum pump but didn't want electric so I used a mechanical pump from an E-450 Ford Diesel van. Since I have the '89 Crown Vic front dress on the engine I was able to mount the vac pump in place of the deleted air injection pump.
17 inches at all times and the brakes were very happy....me too!
The electric pumps were pricey and had a reputation for noise. The mech. pump cost $70 or so from Rock Auto and is silent. Some fabrication is required.

I will let everyone know after I install. Got it on Amazon "used box' for 300. I installed one on a 57 3100 and it worked quite well. we will see.

Bob, can you share some pics of your setup? I'd love to take a look.

Raymond, I'll try to get a pic or two and email or text them to you. My posting here has yet to be perfected. I made a bracket for it and removed the smog pump delete idler pulley.

Here are my pics after the install of the Leed system. I now have real power brakes like they should be. you can barely hear it run when it comes on.
