So the shifter on my 65 was a bit too sloppy for me, so I installed new bushings to tighten it up. Went to start it and nothing. Shifted into neutral and it started right up. Had to crawl under and re- rig the neutral safety switch and shift arm. Guess the last person to rig it adjusted it for all the slop.
Anywho - it works great now. I also discovered after driving it around for 30 minutes to check if the new band adjustment lock nut/seal that I replaced wasn't leaking anymore, I discovered that the pan gasket was - even after I tightened the bolts. Time for a newer style pan gasket instead of the older cork one (the 39 year old one).
Bit by bit working the bugs out.

RTV...... ditch the gasket and seal it. Right. I might do that, but there is a re-useable silicon rubber gasket I believe that might be less messy. I might try that one first. Then the RTV
