BILLY has 16" rims already. The perfect size and 'look' for the 65-66.IMHO
They make TTD's in 16's too.

SO I HAVE RAN ACROSS A DEAL ON SOME 16X7 AMERICAN RACING CLASSIC TORQ THURST II THEY ARE 16X7 4.00 BACKSPACE WHICH GIVES THEM 0 OFFSET JUST WONDERING HOW THEY WILL FIT ON CAR. I HAVE A NEW SET OF TIRES 215X55X16 ON FRONT AND 225X55X16 ON REAR CAR HAS MAVERICK DISC BRAKES ON FRONT AND DRUM BRAKES ON REAR. CAR IS LOWERED 2 INCHES IN REAR AND A LITTLE MORE IN FRONT INCLUDING SHELBY DROP. REALLY WANTING TO GET RID OF MY SPACERS ON CAR. I AM RUNNING 16X7 2005 MUSTANG V6 WHEELS THAT HAVE 5.54 BACKSPACE AND I AM RUNNING 1.25 SPACERS. JUST WONDERING IF IT WILL HIT MY FENDER OR QUARTER PANEL. I KNOW WITH IT SITTING AT 0 OFFSET IT WILL BE CENTERED NICLEY ON THE WHEEL AND LESS STRESS ON BEARINGS AND SUCH.

I JUST READ ON JAMESW WEBSITE HE HAS 16X7 WITH 4.00 BACKSPACE AND WAS FINE ON FRONT BUT SLICED UP A SET OF TIRES ON BACK SO HE HAD NARROWED UP THE REAR A INCH OFF EACH SIDE, SO WOULD IT BE A BETTER FIT IF I WENT WITH 16X7 WITH 4.25 OR 4.50 OR WENT WITH A 16X8WITH 4.50 I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT COMBINATION WILL KEEP MY TIRES OUT OF THE FENDER AND QUARTER PANEL......MY CAR HAS 2 INCH LOWERING BLOCKS BUT I PLAN ON GOING TO THE MUSTANG PLUS REVERSE EYE SPRINGS THIS SUMMER AND DOING AWAY WITH THE BLOCKS.

I went with these BILLY. They are 15x7 and I have no regrets. They fitted easily and there were no issues.

I think they have 4.25" backspacing and the tires i run on mine are 215/60 R15. Next tire set, I'm thinking of going wider on the back.

With rim sizes, I'm hearing it better to go with either 15" or 17", because the 16" are an odd size? Not sure how true this is, but it's something I've heard...

17” is definitely the price point for tires and plenty of options in sizes.
I have been doing a lot of looking at wheels lately as I am try to find what a buddy wants on a 68 Cougar, and I have to say that I have 17” 235F and 275R on my Mustang, but I am falling back to old school 15” and Raised white letters more and more, just hard to beat the classic look.
I have the late model MS brakes so I’m into 17”. And there are little to no option in 15” tires and they cost almost twice what a better 17” cost.

I will disagree with both of ya about ride quality, from personal experience.
If your suspension is designed with old school thinking of thicker springs, big sway bars, and super duper shocks, your statement might be true.
That’s how I started too with a limited budget.
Those parts were designed for track with cheap as can be technology.
I have a mix of old and new technology on the car now.
It was actually a Supercharged Mini back in 07-08 time frame that I test drove across a set of rough as can be train tracks near the dealership.
I was expecting to find my filling on the floor after crossing.
To my surprise, it was smooth as melted butter.
Even your modern daily driver has similar technology to allow it to corner well and be comfortable at same time.
Why do ya think minivans are racing around like sports cars?
You can have both if look at what is available now or fabricate your own.
I ran on 235/60/14’s on all four corners until last replacement.
Prices and availability of high performance tires with traction made transition to larger wheels easier to justify.

I didn’t cut my 620 springs from Mustangs Plus.
I realized my KYB’s Gas-a-Just shocks are what made the ride harsh...especially for washboard roads.
I literally had to drive less than 20 mph on some roads as to not beat up my car.
Then when I was rebuilding/modifying I figured I’d give these a try.
Viking coil overs.
It’s a different ride altogether.
I started on the soft side ( 5 & dime) and haven’t changed them yet.
Definitely considering using the rear shocks with my 5 leaf mid-eyes also from Mustangs Plus.
I have the version with bushings not bearings on ends.
I performed MS upper control arm grease groove and offset one full revolution from center for caster gain.
Moog lower control arm with Energy Suspension poly bushing... control arm falls to floor even after it’s torqued down on jack stands.
Stock strut rods with poly bushings ( Pro thane as I recall)...eventually will modify when time permits.
1-1/8” front sway bar...removed/sold 3/4” rear sway bar.
Viking coil over with 350# springs in front for small blocks...big blocks use higher spring rate
Still have KYB Gas-a-Just in rear...eventually will change.
BTW, the 18’s were curb rashed specials.
Wanted 17’s but these came up on CL.
Bright side, 18’s clear 2016 GT brakes with no problems.
The wheel is designed with the “tire drop section” towards to outside edge...makes more room for brakes.

Anyone put any new wheels on lately....approaching the idea of getting some wheels that actually fit my car without spacers some are saying 16x7 with 4.25 back space and some say 4.50 backspace just confusing.

I'm running 16x7 steelies with 4.25 b/s. That is perfect for me. 4.50 would be too much. They would rub on my Wilwood brake calipers. As it is, I only have about 1/16" caliper clearance on the inside. Rotors are 12.19". 12" or 11.50" would give you more space for differing calipers and b/s.

Yeah I am running the Mustangsteve s197 disc brakes front and rear but I used the v6 rotars and calipers due to my 16 inch wheels....I can upgrade to the GT brakes if I go bigger on wheels. Seriously thinking about the 17x7 cause all I am really seeing is 16x7 with 4.5 backspace.

I have 15's on mine Billy and love the ride. I may eventually go up to 17s, due to tire options availabe. The 16s seems to be the "odd" size when it comes to tire choices and options, so I would avoid that size if I were you.

I've got 17x7s on the front with a 4.5" back space, but run 17x8s on the rear.
