Driver side vent window frame

Well mine broke. The front leg snapped off inside the door just above the bolt. Can this be welded? Or could do I just buy another?

Re: Driver side vent window frame

I think the top part of them is pot metal.  I've heard of some chrome shops being able to repair it.  Its very hard to weld from what I've heard due to the fact that its made up of unknown quantities of various metals.  However, IMO I would rather repair an original part if its repairable than take a chance of reproduction stuff of unknown quality.

Re: Driver side vent window frame

That type of repair is best done by experts in that field, $$$$ plus rechroming $$$$.
Check with West Coast Classic Cougar for a good used one.

Re: Driver side vent window frame

Mine broke there too (yearz ago)
"Mustang Steve buddy" had an extra and sent it to me. (good example of what kind of guyz we have on here)
I managed to "jury" rig something before replacement. Seems like I drove a block of wood between the window frame and the door skine. It held up for years that way. (Coulda been just dumb-luck?!)

Re: Driver side vent window frame

Thanks guys, I ended up on Ebay and found 4 with bad chrome. Then found one that is all of nice as mine. Picked it up for cheap and its coming from Utah so I will see it by this weekend.
