    Not Mustang but Ford. I lost a set of keys to the 59 Bird. Like a dumb ar$$ I assumed the second set had a ignition and a trunk key on it. Nope ignition and door key doesn't fit trunk. Rain was coming so I had to buy a cheap cover at O'Rielly's, good cover was in the trunk, Car a leak somewhere. Anyway, what are my best options to get in the trunk and change the lock. All thoughts are appreciated. (Real post just messing with you Mike)

    If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

    I was going to suggest that since we are all old, removing the back seat and using long extensions to unbolt the whole mechanism......butt I looked at the design of it and it appears to bolt from the bottom, which pretty much means your gonna have to find you a wiry apprentice to brave the odds and crawl in there.   Or.

    Use a lock pick set.  Oar.

    Hire yerself a locksmith to come pick it them make you a key.

    Edit:  on second look I found an illustration online, you might be able to reach and remove the latch bolts with long extensions.  See new post.  The only way I can post the drawing.

    You Tube as a few ideas.
    I particulairly the one using a tennis ball with a hole in it.
    Hold the ball against the door lock with the hole pointing toward the key entrance. Smack the tennis ball hard and the air expelled suppose to make the lock pop open !! (hey......its on the inner net so its gotta be true!)
    Since the T-bird is a hard top ...can't you poke a hole in the rubber along the top of the window and slip a coat hanger down to the lock hickey?

    funny you say that mike. not that my car is locked and I do have extra keys but i found a tennis ball in my driveway this morring...hum

    Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

    Once you get the lockset out, if there are any numbers on it, a locksmith should be able to make you a key. 

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.

    Mike I did the coat hanger thing with doors many times but don't know what I'd be grabbing for in the trunk. Bob I;m hoping your right about the numbers. Don't want to change it if i don't have to.

    Get a real locksmith out to your place, or trailer your car to one. If he can't make an ignition and trunk key in half an hour, he ain't a real locksmith. I took my lower dash into a locksmith who I used to work for and his early twenties employee made me an ignition key in about 15 minutes.
