    Door locks

    Anybody have trouble with a door that wont unlock? Passenger side door on my 67 Coupe will not open after unlocking. Had this trouble a while back, took it apart and lubed everything, replaced the spring and it worked for a while. Now it won't open again.
    Emily won't go through the window.

    This may cause issues with operating door as well.
    I had problems with both doors before taking it serious. 😂

    That pawl bushing is usually the culprit.

    I had a similar issue with mine where I had to work the door lock up and down to get the lock to release. Finally figured out there was a broke spring on the back of the remote control door latch. The door handle attaches to it.

     Damn. I read that as "That pawl bushing is usually  NOT the culprit". I gotta go sign up for that conservator thing.

    Does a 67 have that pawl bushing (aka the culprit)? The one you listed is for a 65-66 and i don't see one when i search for a 67.

    I will be in Chicago for 4 days so i won't be able to tear it down for awhile.

    Just noticed that this applies to 65-66 according to part description.

    Perhaps a 67-68 owner might have an idea.

    Got home today so i got the door panel off and worked the lock rod up and down and got the door open, Took the whole thing out and started trying to figure out what is going on. Have a theory that the push button rod on the handle holds the catch from moving far enough to unlock. Don't know for sure if this is what is happening but it seems plausible. If i can break the little adjuster loose over the weekend i will see if that helps.

    Bolted, I will check the spring on the remote lock also. Come to think of it that would do the same thing.

    My theory on the lock didn't work out, put it all back in and it still does the same thing. Ordered an endoscope for the phone. I will see if that helps diagnosing the problem.
    All the springs on the lock are good and the remote handle spring is good also.

    I'm not sure how the 67-68 door locks are different from the 65-66, but I had to give a good cleaning on one of mine as dirt and grit (the lower outer door skin was rotted through, letting road dirt/grit to enter) were causing it to be difficult to operate.  Lubed it up and works fine.

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.
