Re: My 347 BluePrint Stroker came last week.

I have hot start issues also. (I have NO room for an insulator under the carb). Using the 'old skool' mindset...I run a 160 degree thermostat to try and keep the engine at a cooler level. Not sure if this does anything positive butt..(makes me  'feel-good')
The issue is.........the fuel we use....... Even with the non-ethyl it spins a few times before it cranks ! I suppose the ONLY answer is an electric fuel pump.
Engine guru Joe Sherman once built a 289 street/strip piece and tried the 180 design AND the open plenum intake
(Plen-E-yum if you're Daze! ....and found  NO streetability issues with the open plenum on a SBF! He stated he was surprised but... the dyno proved the point. (Maybe cause SB Fords are...'special' !)     FYI

I have a 1" spacer.  I also bought both of these from Summit to try on my new engine too.  The thermostat had some great feedback on Summit.

Re: My 347 BluePrint Stroker came last week.

I would try without the carb shield first, especially with the air gap style intake.

I’m thinking the heat shield will just get in the way.

Just my thoughts.

I sold my old manifold to compare how much higher this new intake might sit on the engine.

Re: My 347 BluePrint Stroker came last week.

BS on the “electric fuel pump is the only answer” comment. Ridiculous !

Re: My 347 BluePrint Stroker came last week.

What is the minimum temperature the engine oil needs to be to burn off the moisture in it?  I'm sure it is more than the 160 degrees of Sal's thermostat.

1968 T-code Coupe with a 302.  Nice car, no show stopper for sure, but I like it.
