Did you weld and resize your timing slot to be a "7L" like mentioned in the video?

No.......I cut a piece of push rod and slipped(epoxied) it over the post the slot goes over. (understand?) Making the post fatter.
Some guys cut a piece of tubing and slipped it over the post.
The reason I did that is because I didn't have a welder back then.

I must have tried a hundred different things to slide over the pin, including some thin-wall tubing. My Anvil gene (as in, could screw up an anvil with a rubber mallet) must have been very active because everything I tried either moved around and rubbed on something inside the distributor or fell off before I could even glue it on. I ended up taking the advance mechanism apart and welding a new piece into my "18R" slot (my other slot, which is the one I was using, is a 13R). So now the 18R is an 8-ishR slot (.366" wide). Hoping to get it on my machine one of these days to see what the curve looks like. I'm stalled because the little roll pin that holds the reluctor on the shaft went on walkabout, and the replacements are still on the way.
