    Front vent window removal

    Is there a way to remove the vent windows, without removing the main door glass? I have replacement assemblies ready to bolt in, so I'm hoping that I can slide the old vent windows out and then slide the new vent windows in.
    I'm hopeful this will be about a 3hr job or less...

    Yep
    Just like you said. Put lots of masking tape on all the painted door surfaces!!!

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

    I did mine without removing the main door glass.  Of course I managed to break a bolt inside the door so it took considerably longer than 3 hours.  I'm sure you will have better luck with your project.

    Thanks guys! I'm glad I checked, because the articles I was reading seemed to all show door glass being removed and felt strips coming out... I didn't want to deal with that drama, so I was sure hoping.
    Other than the tape, are there any other tricks? I did read or see that I need to be very careful with the bolts.
    How long should this job take per vent window?

    I just want to make sure that the vent window will slide out with these 4 bolts removed... With a bit of wriggling of course...

    I'm stumped why the YouTube clips show the window glass and felt strips all coming out. I replaced the door mechanisms and rollers a couple of years ago and REALLY don't want to remove the door glass.

    A shop manual would be a great asset. It has R&R sequence requirements.

    Relpaced my DS in a couple hours. That included changing over the vent glass and rubber to the new frame. Its not hard just tape up some of the area and pay attention. Door glass will stay just fine.

    Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

    That's a relief to hear! I went through and replaced the rollers and door mechanisms a couple of years ago and don't want to go through removing all that again. So big relief to hear this.
    I have replacements ready to go in, so in my mind, it's a matter of just swapping over. Out with the old and in with the replacement.
    Hoping this will be a relatively quick Saturday morning job and I will re-lube all the rollers again to be safe and then I can forget about it.

    Great news for me, I fitted both vent window assemblies with the door glass still in the doors.
    It wasn't that big of a drama at all to do. Only drama was trying to align the windows afterwards. Time consuming and somewhat frustrating...
