help CPP mustang PS rack leak

I have a brand new mustang power rack and the pressure side AN adapter wont seal. looks like it was supplied with a copper crush washer. But will not seal. Any ideas would be helpful. Rack is from CPP 'Classic performance parts'

It leaks without even starting up just from gravity

AN fittings usually seal with an O-ring if it goes into a module.

Re: help CPP mustang PS rack leak

Knowing exactly what the fitting type is should help you determine how to fix it.  There are probably a hundred AN adapters.  I'm assuming the leak is where the AN adapter threads into the rack?  I've never seen a rack that used pipe thread. so I doubt it seals on the threads.  Like Rufus said, it likely should be an o-ring seal.  That's how most rack fittings seal from my experience.  Remove the adapter and see if there is a recess for an o-ring in the rack.  For an o-ring to seal it has to be captured as the fitting is tightened, or it will just squish out and leak.  A crush washer, likewise, needs a flat surface on both sides, and the washer needs to be soft.  Pics would be very helpful.

Re: help CPP mustang PS rack leak

Suggest calling CPP tech people with this issue to see what they have to say.

Re: help CPP mustang PS rack leak

Is this the kit you have?

I believe Uni Steer makes it.
Uni Steer is used on Factory Five Racing kit cars.

Re: help CPP mustang PS rack leak

FOUND the leak, if I was 30 years younger i would have seen it. All that trouble and it was the return fitting above the pressure fitting. the white plastic type washer they installed was pinched out on the back side where only my scope could find it. Fluid was running down around the pressure fitting so I thought it was the other fitting. Had to make a copper crush washer for it but no more leaky. If I hadnt had such a big head, glasses and being it was below the power steering pump I mite of spotted it earlyer.

Re: help CPP mustang PS rack leak

Glad you find it before you started tearing things apart and wasting time chasing the wrong issue.
