The only one I can think of is a camaro mastercylinder would it fit in front of a stock 1965-1966 mustang brake booster in a 1965-1966 mustang?

Looks similar to a gm brake master cylinder from a 67-69 camaro. I was curious what was out there. A guy on a forum has a power drum/drum brake 65 mustang. I was curious what was out there thanks. Be interesting if it would fit in a 65 thanks.

My '67 had a dual bowl master with drum/drum brakes originally. I would bet anything after '66 was dual bowl even with drums.

My dad owned a 1967 Ford Falcon 6cyl 3spd that had 4wheel drum power brakes.
It was not any type of Futura. It was a bare bones no a/c, no power steering, but power drum brakes. it was factory. Was about as pedestrian as it gets. He loved the thing.

My 65 had factory 4 wheel power drums.
The bell crank assembly is in engine compartment with a single jar master cylinder.
There is not enough room for a dual master cylinder before it hits the tower…in factory configuration.
I never found a dual master cylinder that would fit…60-90’s big 3 cars or trucks with the factory power drum bell crank.
There might be something modern that may fit, perhaps.

That's what I kinda figured because of how far out an oem booster sticks out. Not alot of room for a dual bowl mastercylinder

The 67 Mustang had tandem MC with power brakes. The problem with putting that MC on a 65-66 Mustang with a factory power brake booster is there is insufficient room between the booster and shock tower. Same reason no 65-66 Mustangs came with factory power disc brakes. The disc brake MC, even though single pot, would not physically fit.
This is the reason why I designed the MustangSteve power brake booster using a foxbody booster that bolts up tight to the firewall. It allowed use of a disc brake or any tandem MC on a 65-66.

That's what I originally thought thanks MS

True74yamaha, this is what I have on the ‘65.
MS booster conversion…replaced factory power booster.
2001 v6 Mustang master cylinder (10mm and 12mm ports…ABS equipped car)
2016 Mustang GT brakes front (14”) and rear (13”)
Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve (single in/single out)
Works AWESOME…sorry BILLY.😁
I have even driven with the vacuum disconnected on booster, while testing an ECM for a couple of months.
More effort required as expected.
What disc brakes did you install?

On my Coupe I installed 2013 GT disc brakes upfront. I currently have the drum brakes rebuilt in the rear I went with the 2.3l brake booster. I still may decide later on to install disc brakes on a new rear end for My car I'd like to run 3.73 gears. I would need to change my disc drum master cylinder out for a disc disc master cylinder and re plumb the brake lines.
I plan on installing a watts link suspension in the back along with coil over shock and a parallel 4 link suspension.
In the front end I'm to decide what I want to do I have my car completely torn apart right now.
I need to buy torque boxes for the front of my car then I can install all my floor from firewall to trunk drops. Then start making good progress on it. I'm glad the drivers side replacment floor panel fit okay. Still needs work.

True74yamaha - Good luck with the build. You should be able to get a job at Kendig-it when you're done.

True74yamaha…couldn’t send pictures in messages but here is info as requested.
I modified my stock strut arms with heim joints with help from RPM, RcodePaul and a friend at machine shop this spring.
It did not change appearance just improved ride quality.
Picture is before strut rod changes.
Front:
‘65 spindles
2016 Mustang GT brakes
Viking coil overs with 350# springs
Street or Track upper control arms (stock configuration for spring perches)
Stock style lower control arms with Energy Suspension poly bushings
Stock strut rods modified with heim joints
Arning/Shelby 1” relocation
1-1/8” sway bar
18”x7.5” with 5.75” backspacing and 1” wheel spacer
Rear:
2016 Mustang GT rear brakes
5 leaf mid-eye springs
KYB Gas-a-Just
18”x7.5” with 5.75” backspacing and 1” wheel spacer

That would be neat I live close by to his shop. Im currently working with a friend that's in the same complex where Dave kindigs ole painter Manuel builds all sorts of cars but does alot of Porsches.
There's a shop called Tidwell and they build som top notch rides. Dan Green Restorations specializes 64- 73 Mustang Restorations.

Original color is Prairie Bronze with an Earl Scheib paint job back in 70’s.
Current color according to my daughters is “Prairie Dog Brown.” 😂
They could not remember the name…pretty close.
We still laugh about it too.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
