Loved those old bumper jacks! Taught me a good lesson about blocking the front tires when jacking the rear on my old 1957 Fairlane.....Doh!

I had a similar experence with my dad's 61 Galaxie, the car rolled forward, I was lucky that I was able to open the trunk to let jack shaft pass until I got the car back on the ground.  Yep, one needs to block the front wheels!

Re: On the road to Bakersfield.....

I drove through Bakersfield this past weekend on my way to Huntington Beach.  If I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry I would have reached out.

Re: On the road to Bakersfield.....

Ah, no worries. Huntington Beach is just a tad nicer on the eyes than Bako. You gonna make it to the Bash?

Re: On the road to Bakersfield.....

If I make the bash it won’t be in the mustang, so that wouldn’t really count as making the bash.

Long story short this year has been non productive as far as the Mustang.  My 71’ is a Grande, and getting the vinyl top sorted has been nothing short of a dumpster fire.  Got vinyl samples from SMS, Ordered a top, waited 3 months, received a top made out of a different material than the sample they sent. Contacted SMS at the end of May, they said they would make it right.  Followed up in June, July and August.  I still don’t have the top made out of the correct vinyl.  It should be arriving this week.

Sent off all my bright anodized trim to King of Trim back in Jan to have it refurbished and satin black anodized.  Many dollars later I received my first batch of trim to be disappointed by their work.  Had to send half back for rework.  I will be surprised if I get it back by Thanksgiving.

Can’t put the trim on without the vinyl top on.
Can’t put the headliner in until the vinyl roof trim is on.
Can’t put the windows in until the headliner is in.

Don’t want to roll 600 miles to Bakersfield without windows.

Waiting for your Mustang to be road ready to attend a Bash is a mistake a lot of guys make. Ya, the cars are cool, but it's the friendships that hold this group together. Drive the Kia if need be, but make it and you won't be disappointed.

Don't let the lack of a Mustang to drive hold you back, I catch a lot of slack because I don't drive my 65 to the bashes.  I just let them talk!!  I've driven, Ram trucks, late model Mustangs, Airbus 380 (I wasnt driving)  and If I make it this year it will probably be in a Jeep!!  Just go!!

Re: On the road to Bakersfield.....

I've driven a Dodge Caravan, Dodge Avenger, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Late model Mustang, and rode with someone to bashes.   It doesn't matter what you drive, as long as it runs.

Edit:  I just want to mention not to ruin the party, but covid is still a thing.   I tested + for covid on Aug 16th, and covid led to pneumonia.   So, between this and the kidney stone surguries, I've had a hell of a summer!

Re: On the road to Bakersfield.....

Sorry to hear about your problems.
Kidney stones are a real biatch .The docs tried lithotripsy twice on mine with no results so going up through my urethra to pull them out was the only solution.
I still get shivers thinking about it.

X-2 Rudi.
My doc told me he got the tool stuck while dipping my stones out ! He had to dis-assemble the 'tool' a piece-at-the-time to get it OUT !!! Thank God I slept through the whole thing.....
Then two weeks later he goes up-the-tunnel and removes the stent ! I was TOTALLY wake for that !
The dude comes in the room and tells me to relax...
I promptly said...."let's trade places and then tell me to relax".

Did you mean an Airbus 320 instead of a 380? Quite a big difference in aircraft there.
