This TMI upholstery/foam is way too expensive. Going to trash this idea.

I looked at redoing the seats in my '67, but to get all the features I wanted required changing so much that I ultimately just bought new TMI seats for less money.  I'm quite happy with the seats.  Much more comfortable and supportive.  Even with just lap belts I don't slide around when pushing the car through corners.  Also on long trips my head and back are far better supported. 

I put Scat Procar seats in my 66 in 2009.  They are still so much more comfortable  than any originals or TMI special buns/upholstery. I really love them on long trips. And back then, were only $300 each. Just not original looking.

   I used the them in my 69 and my fronts were about a 1' higher with new foam.  I had to removed my seat adjusters to make them fit better. 
 

I bought some really nice seats from Amazon for $375pr with tax and shipping. The bolster in the front is way too high and will not work for me in my 1966 Mustang. I will probably use them in another vehicle. The Corbeau A4 seats have the option to shave an 1" off the seat base(I will probably choose that option).

According to Scat’s website…yes.
I would verify if not directly from them.

I believe there is a “newer” style that has the “smooth back” upper.

Same shape, slightly different design on upper back.

As I recall, the original style Rally’s had ribs full length of back.

With your son’s fabrication skills, he can make the floor adapter brackets.

I purchased a set of lightly used Scat seats this summer and the donor vehicle was a ‘68 Falcon.
So I lucked out and just had to clean them up and modify to match my interior.

I just ordered the Corbeau A4, black cloth, drivers side lumbar, 1" shaved base on driver/pass and brackets. I will post pictures when I get them. 

My seats included an adjustable base, but they did not fit well in my car. I wound up using two sets of 66 seat tracks. I cut one set up and welded them to the other set to get the seats to fit far enough away from the steering wheel. I am 5’-8” tall, and they still had to be extended. Lots of ways to do it, so I probably chose the most complicated way.

I considered buying TMI seats for my 69, but did not like having TMI logo staring at me every time I opened the door.
Will take another look at them for the 65 if they have Pony with no TMI logo.

I redid my upholstery years ago using TMI foam and upholstery.  I chose the Sport Seat foam and covers which have bolsters though smaller ones that the Sport II.  While I like the seats, and my wife says they are comfortable after hours of riding in a long drive, I would choose the standard foam and covers if I were doing it today.  Reason being that the bolster was carried from the sides to underneath the thighs.  This little rise crowds the space to the steering wheel.
