I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the people who attended, and helped me in the planning and execution of the Bash. You guys are truly awesome. I am blessed to have so many loving friends. Several members who for various reasons were not able to attend the Bash were sorely missed.
I hope and pray all y'all arrive home safely.

Bob,
I no-showed this year which wasn’t my intention. Thanks for hosting in California. I ended up traveling over 1300 miles on the Bash weekend for work and a big trip with my oldest kid. Honestly the trip with my kid was more of a cannonball run but was productive.
Hopefully I can sneak away to a bash before I get to retirement age.

Thanks for all your effort put into hosting this Bash Bob.
It was great catching up with old faces and meeting new ones. I enjoyed meeting the locals also.
Thanks again

Happy to help with the minor details. You were courageous to take on this task; for that I salute you. Great job incorporating the Bakersfield Mustang club, some great people and awesome cars. Very well done overall.
Just one story -
The Bakersfield Mustang club member who worked at the Santa Maria Ford dealership for 20 years said he was there when they got their first Mustang. This fella has a great car and he was an interesting conversation. He said to Zilik and to me that he was working in '64 when the dealership got one Mustang for the launch. Theirs was a Wimbledon white, plain Jane 6 cylinder. The sales guys put it in their showroom the evening before the launch. They took 30 orders (at a small dealership in a small town) that night, the day before the start sell.
Gary said Ford sold 20,000 Mustangs on day 1 and the Santa Maria "night before" story tells you about the level of excitement.

Oh yeah.......BITD when the 'new Fords' came out it was much anticipated ! The dealership in my area would put up brown paper over the windows a day or so BEFORE the big reveal day. Just hyping the excitement even more.
Seems like I remember just the coupes where shown first. The 2-2's came a little later. (I always thought those
sliding-louver-hickeys accessible from the back seat were 'trick'!)...Funny how I had NO problem climbing into the rear seat and cruising(and other activities!)

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
