Sun visors too tight

Sal’s mirrors are too loose, my visors are too tight, not sideways, up and down.
How could I free them up a bit but not to the extent they are floppy?

Re: Sun visors too tight

The only thing I can say from experience is on my Galaxies convertible, the drivers visor was like that.  Real super hard to move.   What was wrong with it was the chrome rod (s) that it rides on decided to dust real bad on the inside of the visor.  It was nearly impossible to extract them from it.  You could not see a bit of rust just looking at it, as it was all in the visor.  But it is a convertible so it makes a bit of sense that some water could get there.  Anyways, I think they are still in the scrap bin I might be able to get a picture of how bad it was.   Not saying this is your problem.

If multiple things can go wrong, the one that will go wrong will be the one that causes the most damage.

Re: Sun visors too tight

Are the visors difficult to move when removed from center mirror bracket?

Re: Sun visors too tight

Years ago, I had that issue and removed the visor, pulled the rod (it was very tight) after applying penetrating fluid, cleaned out the visor slot where the rod goes as best I could.  Then the visor wouldn’t stay up.  Took it apart again, used alcohol to clean off the rod and visor slot, and all was good.

Re: Sun visors too tight

Rudi, like you, I had the same problem on my 65 3 decades ago,and like BobE, my attempt to use penetrating fluid resulted in a visor that wouldn't stay up.
In my case, the use of the fluid damaged the cardboardy type'a original visors, so I just replaced them.

Re: Sun visors too tight

Thanks for the repliesguys.
I was afraid that penetrating oil would screw them and it seems as though it will.
I’d rather have them tight than floppy so I’ll leave them alone.😬

Re: Sun visors too tight

Rudi...........I wonder if... You could drill a tiny hole somewhere on the top of the visor and inject a dab of oil to maybe partically loosen the visor.
