I lnow this has been gone over a thousand times but what rotors will fit on stock '67 V8 spindles?

Re: front disc brake facts

These for sure:
65-67 Mustang Rotors and disc brake hubs,
68-73 Mustang Rotors using the bearings appropriate for the 67 spindles.
94-04 Cobra using drum brake hubs
05-current Mustang GT using drum brake hubs

Others may know more.

Re: front disc brake facts

With bracket of course a 94 ranger rotor with same bearing as 65 aka a2 a6. Some use a granada rotor I dunno why smaller but you can with your year bearings and a bracket

Ranger? Didn't expect that, but if so, What about Explorer?

Re: front disc brake facts

Ranger rotor (at least 1992 model) is 10" diameter and has integral hub.

2000 Explorer front rotor is 11.3" diameter and is slip-on type, with no hub.  It looks like it would not fit over a early Mustang drum brake hub, but not for sure on that.

Re: front disc brake facts

Ranger until 94 95 uses a larger inner bearing but same outer

Re: front disc brake facts

Are you asking because you want a smaller rotor caliper set up so you can fit in 15"+ rims? I've made a few set ups that do that. One of them use the 65-73 drum hub machined down 1/8" most times due to variations. Then you use 95 crown vic rotors 11.45" and 98 dual piston calipers with brackets and or use 2013 vic rotors which are 12" for 16" option several others

Re: front disc brake facts

Yes I want to run 15" styled  steelie's, Have already decided to run the explorer rear end and disc, just trying to keep every thing simple enough to explain to the clerk at Advance (notice I didn't say parts man) what parts I need when it's time to replace the pads. I like the 95 Crown Vic solution.

Re: front disc brake facts

Make seance. I dunno what your opinion is on running bearing spacers but if your ok with it you could run matching explorer rotors and calipers up front. The crown vic set ups nice huge calipers they actually are a few millimeters bigger than cobra and the gt calipers though they do use a smaller rotor.

Re: front disc brake facts

Or you could mix it up do a 68-69 rotor with a gt caliper that way you have a good over all diameter but with a less expensive caliper.

Re: front disc brake facts

Unless someone here knows which I'm
Sure someone does. But what rotor was used along with the country squire or equivalent calipers. On the mustang when racing trans ams. If someone has that big brake set up if you can measure the od on that then maybe we could see if you could use another set up. Or how do you feel about a rotor centering ring I know Steve's kits use them how ever you'd need a bigger one to do this but you could use a 95 ranger 4wd rotor and matching caliper set up

Re: front disc brake facts

Thanks Yamaha good food for thought let me go to the pull apart with my verneers and a rule and see what I can find.

Re: front disc brake facts

Interesting stuff! I used the Scarebird deal .....they make a spacer to fit on 65/66 drum spindles then use Ranger rotors. Bracket for caliper(chevy s10) works with the Ranger rotors and Cadillac Elderado brake hoses(no kidd'in). Maybe I should have waited and talked with you. Sounds interesting!

Re: front disc brake facts

Ha ha if you ever want to I'm here ha ha I actually made a set up with the 94 ranger rotor 10.28" dia and 95 ranger calipers because of the dual pistons were available on that year and brackets to mount these to 64-73 drum spindles. Nice set up good stuff if your running 14" rims or 15" steelies other wise I'm sure it'd look a lil to small on a car with 17" + rims on it.  Speaking of spacers I also made spacers for i6 64-66 spindles to mount a five lug drum hub or stock style kh and other rotors and calipers on them

I'm hesitant to say how MUCH(capital letters...emphasis on much!) I paid for the two spacers to make my set up work. It works a lot better than the old drum set up and looks just right on my 15" Halibrand style rims.

Re: front disc brake facts

I designed that bearing spacer for the five lug conversion for my cousins 64 1/2 i6 coupe
