Awaking of a 13 year old Mustang project

I started a project and the goal was to improve handling and HP of a 1968 6-cylinder convertible. (In about 2013).  Life got in the way and project got stalled. Car has a Heidts Mustang II with power steering. I managed to fit the engine and tranny from a1998 Cobra into the 68. When I started this project, I thought I knew enough to work my way through any problems I encountered - especially with BB's help with wiring. He made a harness that would blend into the stock '68. Now I realize that I have forgotten most of what I thought I known.  For example, I could no longer  remember how to remount the steering column.  I had to find a '68 to see how the parts related to get it installed.

About 2013, there was another Mustang Steve's car guy putting the 4.6 DOHC into a '67 or '68.  I think he was from Indiana.  Any one remember him?  If so does anyone have a name or contact information?  I thought he had posted some pictures of his project.  Any pictures would be a great help.  Of course, if i could talk to him, hopefully his memory is better than mine.

I've tried Google and UTube and am getting nowhere.  Any help / guidance would be appreciated. I'd accept help from ANYONE that could assist me with this installation/combination.  (1998 Cobra engine and transmission into a '68 convertible.)

Re: Awaking of a 13 year old Mustang project

Hi Steve
I remember seeing your harness laid out on plywood in BB's shop. Good to see you getting back into it.
The Ford Shop Manual covers most remove/refit procedures very well. Along with the various assembly diagram books, it may help jog your memory.

MAW from Indiana has a 66 with a DOHC. You may even have his Ph # in a PM.

He hasn't been online since August though.

There is still some very knowledgeable on the forum, ask any specific questions you may have.
Good luck.

Confirming what 50vert mentioned, the FYI member you are looking for is MAW.  I know his was running and driving.

My son has an 03 Cobra/T56/IRS combo in his 66 coupe.  He has some miles on it, but it is a long way from done.  We worked on it together a lot in my garage until he got married and dragged it over to his own garage.  I might be able to answer some of your questions, and since I see him regularly, and he only lives a couple of miles away, I could get you pics, as well.
