Hi. Just bought the MS booster and it arrived today. Excited to try and solve why the pedal has been touchy. My set up. 68 w 428. Factory Front Disc/Rear Drum power brakes. Correct Master. Mustang Steve correct brake pedal and now the booster. Quick question - the original booster has the spacer on it. Looking at the MS booster just seeing if others are using the spacer between booster and MC or deleting it. Thanks in advance Mike

Pretty sure that spacer is mandatory. But it's been years since I removed the power for manual brakes.

Hi - been fighting the MS booster for the 68. My car had the stock midland which was rebuilt years ago by booster Dewey and looks like the MS 68 is about an inch longer which is a challenge with the 428 in there. Not sure of people have had any success with a smaller booster in the 68? Been looking on search but haven’t seen anything, Again I’ve got the factory power disc front and set back. Thanks

I think the spacer/filter is only used on the Midland booster, not the Bendix.
The MS pedal is just a reproduction of your original pedal.

The 68 should have the Midland/Ross booster (with band clamp) and the filter between booster and master cylinder. The only suitable replacement for that is the 69 Bendix booster which uses a 9/16” spacer plate between the booster and firewall. The booster bolts directly to the master cylinder.
On my 69 with the Bendix booster, I put a very small dent in the shock tower to allow master cylinder removal without having to loosen the booster from the firewall. It did not show and made life much easier.
Those thinner boosters from China would not be a good choice for your car. The Bendix curved shaft booster is not too hard to come by.

Got the booster and master mounted. Had to take off the export brace and valve cover. Didn’t try the dent in shock tower but that may be next. MC is pretty much touching the valve cover so will have to try a shim or reposition engine on mounts to get the 1/4 inch. One question - I have the mustang steve 67-70 booster. Have others had any issue getting the brake light switch to fit over the booster end where it attaches to the pedal mount. Thx

The joys of working on a big block Mustang.
I didn't have much luck with the factory brake light switch. So, I made a bracket and used a brake pedal switch from a mid 70's Ford truck.
