When I was in HS I had a 68 Charger R/T 4-speed Dana 60 3.54:1 rear in metallic green with a black vinyl top (I know, weird...Mopar and vinyl tops.) Back in the '70s we didn't photograph everything all the time. I have almost no photos of that car save for a couple of very poor burnout photos.
the lighting is wrong and the photo is tiny, off of a print from the old 110 format so the negative was only 13mm. Not a great format. The car looked more like this, but hey, that's not MY car.
AI to the rescue. Took a few minutes. And to think I was at one time thinking of learning Photoshop since my company already pays the Adobe Suite use fees. Ouch.

That needs to be black with a 68 Highland Green fastback hot on its tail!

Funny. I wish. But I was a kid of just 8 when Bullitt was released and I'm not sure I had seen it by the time I bought the Charger. Back then, movies came and went and I wasn't watching anything on a VCR in 77 or 78. My HS buddy Mike Geis had a 67 fastback but it was a bit ratty, light blue metallic and in driver condition. I think he got kicked out of my HS before I got the Charger. Not sure. If only we would have been wise enough to recreate those scenes out by the airport and catch them on 8mm film like RPM and I did with my '65 Polara. We jokingly called that footage "A Boy and his Dog/Dodge"

I've sat both my boys down and watched that chase scene several times. I wanted them to see what real car stunt work looked like before CGI ruined everything. I still find it the best chase scene ever, though the one in Ronin is also really good. The one in the French Connection is also solid, especially since some of it was filmed without permission on active streets!

Nice AI cleanup work. I'll have to check it out as my few old photos could use a refreshing.

Amen and thanks fellas. Now RPM contends he took that burnout shot on slide film. Huh. Maybe. Been too long. One thing I haven't forgotten is how to do a burnout. Oh, and my appetite for green 400+ cubic inch burnout machines hasn't waned in the 50 years between photos...

Bullitt was on TV at 1:00am this morning. Tried to watch. Finally caught the chase scene. The rest of the movie is so bad it just wasn’t worth the loss of sleep.
I always liked those Chargers, especially with a real Hemi in there

I don't think the film itself is bad. It simply doesn't comport with the modern style of filmmaking, which is actually mostly terrible because the American audience has such a short attention span and can't figure anything out from context clues. By modern standards it seems boring, because there are long periods where no one talks, and its not the typical modern cop drama where the main character is in a gun fight every 10 minutes. Its depiction of police work is actually far more accurate than that. I think the rest of the film is simply average, but the fact that it contains the best chase scene ever filmed leaves one expecting far more from the rest of it than it can deliver.

I'm not completely sure when this was taken other than being in the early 70's My first car - a 67 Cougar XR7 6.5 Litre.

Then I guess you guys don't much care for Lemans or Grand Prix, two great classic movies. 🤷

Yep, Vanishing Point. Love that movie. Two Lane Blacktop is another one that's underrated.

Hah! I was thinking about it as I made my last post, but had already clicked post. I was wondering how long it would take someone to post it.
Honestly, we can't forget about Deathproof either. Its a modern film, but they did all practical stunts (no GCI), and it was in the vein of the classics. Say what you want about Tarantinio, but the guy knows cinema really, really well, and he loves all those old car films.
