~~ I have a 1967 mustang 200 6 cylinder w/AT that needs a new exhaust system. I am going to replace the entire system (buy the parts and bring to muffler shop). I have been looking at all the aftermarket sellers and they all seem to be selling a generic system without much explanation of noise/power etc. I am looking for a quiet system, the quieter the better. Have any of the I6 owner found one that is quieter then another. Also, I have a 1965 mustang 200 6 cylinder w/AT that sounds like an old milk truck (showing my age). As far as I can tell this system is in good shape. I will also be changing the exhaust system on this car as well to try to make it quieter. Also, will the 2 inch ’67 pipes bolt up to the ’65, both with a 200 I6 ?

I have a 250 CI six in my 69. It has the stock 69 single exhaust which uses 2" pipe and a really large (long and wide) muffler. It runs pretty quiet and muffles that disctinctive, annoying six cylinder sound pretty well. I do not know if the head pipe is compatible with the 200, but a muffler shop could very easily adapt it.

The 200 engine has a high mount starter, whereas the 250 has a low mount starter (similar to the SBF).
The 250 headpipe may interfere with the starter on the 200.
