Question on 65 rear shoes

I'm gonna replace my rear shoes on my car they are 10" drums with the 1 1/2" shoe. Checker also lists 10" drum with 2" shoes they said that's for an 8" rear also is that correct I thought they only had those on 9" big bearing rear ends

Re: Question on 65 rear shoes

Try RockAuto - they list a lot more parts.  They do not show a 10x1.5, most 10's are shown as 10x1.75 for the 289 and 260 - for example - http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1367055&cc=1333381

The only 1.5" that they list is for a 9" diameter drum.

Re: Question on 65 rear shoes

Cars in later years had wider shoes. You can't just change shoe width without changing backing plates and drums.

Re: Question on 65 rear shoes

Ok just thought that was odd I just kinda figured that the wider shoes are what a 9" rear had and I know mines an 8"
